dude, it's really weird having a guy from south carolina post a finnish insurance company's commercial on a british bulletin board

pille'ocheoni
14th February 2003, 14:17
well i hate that i live in south carolina. im not proud of it. its just circumstance. but hey imfo, is universal right?

wheezer
14th February 2003, 14:30
yeh info is universal, it was just a very strange moment somehow - finnish culture is not that well represented outside of finland, sort of like south carolinas culture isn't very well represented outside of south carolina lol

Lady E
14th February 2003, 14:33
well its certainly the global village in action thats for sure

whats so bad about south carolina pille? do you have a really cute southern accent?

pille'ocheoni
14th February 2003, 14:35
shit.....south carolins is full of rednecks, and traliers, cheap gas, cheap rent, and cheap internet. jobs are everwhere, and theres nothing to do here. its southern culture which is new to me considering i spent my whole life in the northwest of the u.s. i cant wait to get out, but for now you cant beat the prices and old record stores. which no-body knows about. 5 months i move. canada maybe> with an old freind tony. after spending a couple of months in europe seeing the sites and visiting you wonderfull people.>

@weezer i understand, finnland is a place far from most americans eyes. its a mystery up there in scandinavia. labels suck

pille'ocheoni
14th February 2003, 14:37
ABOUSULTY NOT!!!!!!!!!!ahaaaaaaaaaa..... .....no never ........fuck these people i grew up on the other side of the country........i have no accent...........i dont know why this really pisses me off..........i just hate southern culture. fucking morons

wheezer
14th February 2003, 15:03
you've got it all wrong pille, join a football team, eat grits for breakfast and things will turn around, I'm sure! =)

@emma

I used to have a southern accent...now I can't reproduce it even if I try

pille'ocheoni
14th February 2003, 15:09
what!?........you lived in the south?.........grit are fine. football sucks, but the women are fine. good weather, just ignorance runs deep here.

pille'ocheoni
14th February 2003, 15:18
heres another strange pic of this crazy looking bear:)

wheezer
14th February 2003, 15:23
yeah pille, I lived in atlanta, georgia for 5 years, not too far from where you are now huh? football was quite probably the only sport I was ever any good at, but then I kept injuring people in all the others, so go fiugre...

yep and that's where I learned to speak English as well, hence the southern accent, which was pretty much killed when I moved to Finland hehe

tsr_tomas
14th February 2003, 16:30
iiiiiiiiiiiiiih, pille that bear scares me... can´t belivie that litte children likes that mongo.
whats wrong with the bear ? has it been pushed in to a washing machine and turned blue by accident ?

pille'ocheoni
14th February 2003, 18:18
he is pretty scary.......heheh
@weezer i used to live in atlanta for many years, i was acually born there then moved to portland. but my family lives there, we lived on the south side near college park, east point. thats great when were you there and are you a native american or what cus ive heard about you living everywhere. and what is your native language? native country? and why are you in finland?>just curious:)

KaOz
14th February 2003, 18:29

wheezer
14th February 2003, 18:43
well no, I'm German Pille. I moved to Atlanta when I was 8, in 89. stayed there till 95, then moved to Finland, first Espoo near Helsinki and now Helsinki where I currently reside. My native language is German, but I'm really on pretty much the same level (if not even more fluent) in English, and living here has brought me fluency in Finnish too, although most Finns spot my accent & grammatical flaws within in the first 30 minutes...

Atlanta was a cool city then, but it's totally exploded! When I lived there they had a population of about 2.5 million, I think it's like 4 million now??? I lived in Sandy Springs, very close to where the one end of the Georgia 400 is. I liked Atlanta, although living in the Suburbs is extremely dull in the teenager years - but I had my PC and a modem, so the world was my oyster =) There was a really cool hacking & phreaking scene in Georgia back then, what with the legendary Legion of Doom being based here... I have fond memories of Virgiana Heights, Little Five Points, Six Flags, White Water, the Coca-Cola Museum, Stone Mountain, etc...We moved there because of my father's work, and over here also, my family has since dispersed to Belgium and Germany, while I began my computer science studies here after completing a local German high school - I decided to study here because the Helsinki University of Technology's CS department ranked 2nd best after Aachen in Europe, and I had not heard good things about life at that University, plus I'd been to the city and didn't like it much... so I stayed here, moved in with my girlfriend and a flatmate from school days in the center of the city.

pille'ocheoni
14th February 2003, 18:49
sounds cool........hopefully i will have the same war stories as you in the future. nice to hear about your multi-culture experences. i find the idea of becoming a " worldly person " very attractive. being able to move from country to country is something i really want to do. and i will do. thanks for sharing, sounds cool

wheezer
14th February 2003, 18:52
it's been interesting, but the cultural transitions are not all smooth sailing...for example, coming from atlanta where everybody talks to you about god and the world at every opportunity, it was very weird moving to a place where people really only open their mouthes when they have something important to say...

pille'ocheoni
14th February 2003, 19:00
yeah i can tell sometimes talking here on the board. i talk about god alot, but not too much, just enough to releate to the person im talking to. thats funny, your right though most americans strive for some sense of spirtual gratification. so do you think you'll stay in finalnd when you finish school?> and maybe you can help me with some general knowledge about americans working in europe. i bought this book the other day about americans working in europe, germany to be specific. but its not that imformative. its a broad question but what problems have you seen going from one country to the next. and what is your citizenship? are you still technically a german? or did you get your greencard here in the states and get citizenship here. or even finland?:)
