so i watched the appleseed movie last night, apparently the most high tech animation ever blahblahblah, but imho it looked totally pants. great story (masamune shirow, genius) but really ugly, clunky animation and shit colours. i just stuck akira on now, and for an animation that's 18 years old, it still looks absolutely incredible. the animation totally flows, the colours are vibrant, fuckin ace.
new techniques suck (a lot of the time).

saw it last year, I liked the story, fair play the animation was pedestrian. but that is usually the case with manga.

to be fair the dubbed voices in akira and GITS were actually done very well.

the fact that kaneda has the same voice as leonardo from the teenage mutant ninja turtles kind of ruins it though.

I've been liking samurai champloo (they've started playing it on the telly here)...
For awesome animation FLCL/Fooly Cooly is great (the story is kind of mental though)
