[Intro]

Guns dont kill people rappers do,
Ask any politican and they'll tell you its true,
Its a fact music makes you violent,
Like Michael Jackson telling little Timmy to be silent,
You don't believe me? Heres my hype,
Offer me the record and i'll show you the type,
Of criminal this rap shit is breedin,
Its a fact that MC Hammer left me bleedin,
Vanilla Ice made my mother say 'Fuck',
If I stuck with UB40 then I woulda been in luck,
But I didn't I got it wrong,
Cypress fucking Hill told me to make a fucking bong,
So I started, I bought another tape,
The Power by Snap made my cock and balls ache,
So remember kids from the head double tap,
Guns don't kill people its just rap!

[Chorus]
Guns don't kill people rappers do
Sound of the police
Woo Woo Woo

Guns don't kill people rappers do,
I seen it in a documentary on BBC2,
Shot to death outside Hyper Value,
Guns blazin like Michael Caine in Zulu,
Gun-crime statistics are sometimes misleading,
The type of criminal that rap is breedin,
Shot in the chest? No wonder you stopped breathin,
2 for the base over, are you receivin?
Remember rap tracks in '87
Scott the Rock's up ni Hip-Hop heaven,
Biggie and Tupac R.I.P,
Even Jam Master Jays in the cemetary.

[chorus]

Guns don't kill people rappers do,
I'm a fucking rapper and I might kill you,
As a rapper I'm teachin you a lesson,
AK47 to Smith-and-Wesson
Just say no, just like Zammo
Bullet proof vest, to guns and ammo,
Hip-hop gangster trippin,
Even Eminems into pistol whippin,
Its like cluedo murder one,
P-Diddy, J'lo in a nightclub with a gun,
Heard snoop dog now wants to bust a cap,
Guns dont kill people its just rap

One, Two yo face my shoe,
My name is Mike Balls and I'm comin through,
Gun crimes, stabbin, and burglarisation,
Its on a rise all across the nation,
The safety's off and the pistol is aimed,
Yardies and the Mafia always get blamed,
Politicians are shamed, and they haven't got a clue,
Rap is more deadly than fucking Kung-Fu

[Chorus]

Guns dont kill people rappers do,
From Bristol Zoo to B&Q,
I wanna rap, I wanna rhyme
Heard it in a song now im into gun crime,
Its a sign of the times like Prince changin his name,
Gotta have a shooter to be in the rap game,
Like Michael Ryan about to snap,
Guns dont kill people its just rap!

[Chorus]

[Outro]

Stop the Violence
(From the album "BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY")

Worldwide BDP are the freshest!
Worldwide! Worldwide! Worldwide!

One two three, the crew is called BDP
and if you want to go to the tip top
stop the violence in hip-hop, Y-O

Time and time again, as I pick up the pen
as my thoughts emerge, these are those words
I glance at the paper to know what's going on
someone's doing wrong, the story goes on
Mary Lue's had a baby someone else decapitated
the drama of the world shouldn't keep us so frustrated
I look, but it doesn't coincide with my books
social studies when I speak upon political crooks
It's just the presidents, and all the money they spent
all the things they invent and how the house is so immaculate
They paid missiles, my family's eating gristle
then they get upset when the press blows the whistle
Of course the main profiles are kept low
you temper with some jobs, now the press is controlled
Not only newspapers, but every single station
you only get to hear the president is on vacation
But ehrm, stay calm, there's no need for alarm
You say ";go back"; to your mom, and you're off to Vietnam
You shoot to kill, come back and you're a veteran
but how many veterans are out there pedaling?
There's no telling, 'cause they continue selling
As quiet as it's kept, I won't go into depth
You can talk about Nigeria, people used to laugh at ya.
Now I take a look, I say ";USA for Africa?!";

Huh.
What's the solution, to stop all this confusion?
Rewrite the constitution, change the drug which you're using
Rewrite the constitution or the emancipation proclamation
we fight inflation, yet the president's still on vacation

BDP posse!
I say: one two three, the crew is called BDP
And if you wanna go to the tip top
stop the violence in the hip-hop, Y-O

This might sound a little strange to you
well here's the reason I came to you
We gotta put our heads together, and stop the violence
Cause real bad boys move in silence
When you're in a club, you come to chill out
not watch someones blood just spill out
That's what these other people want to see
another race fight endlessly
You know we're being watched, you know we're being seen
Some wish to destroy this scene called hip-hop
But I won't drop
not I or Scott LaRock
Now here is the message that we bring today:
hip-hop will surely decay
if we as a people don't stand up and say:
";Stop the violence!";
";Stop the violence!";
";Stop the violence!";
";Stop the violence!";
";Stop the violence!";

I say: one two three, the crew is called BDP
And if you wanna go to the tip top
stop the violence in the hip-hop, Y-O

BDP and me
we step into the party top celebrity
Say when we're coming to dance, we never have to pay a fee
Cause that's where we got R-E-S-P-E-C-T
I have this one wife, her name is Miss Melody
I know I'm from the Bronx, she from the Brooklyn posse
I tell ya look a little like this, then I tell you some that I
Sometimes I got my gear on, sometimes I wear a hat
Sometimes I'm in a Mercedes and sometimes I'm in a plain
Sometimes I find myself upon the number two train
Some people look at me and see negativity
some people look at me and see positivity
But when I see myself I see creativity
So if I can create, well then I make some money
Sha man, just put your hands up if you're out here gettin' paid
Sha man, just put your hands up if you're out here gettin' paid
One two three, the crew is called BDP
And if you wanna go to the tip top
stop the violence in the hip-hop, Y-O

i thought that was well funny!

and pertinent given the topic... if you brag about being gangster then expect to go out like one.

this tune is already in post-production, it features beats by Eminem's 2 time ex-wife Kim and the chorus is a sample of 'Bridge of Spies' by T'Pau . . gonna be huge.

You have a pretty misguided perception of fiction and reality! BEE does not live his life posing as a gangster, he simply writes about violent situations. Fiddy, Eminen and all that lot LIVE the gangster life as well as rapping about it. All I'm saying is that if you actively seek to make your life look like a dangerous exciting gangster movie then don't be surprised when you get shot by other people doing the same thing .

More er, cunt and paste (sic), these words are from Proof himself:

"I turn a hard nigga yellow, and bake his ass faster than a cheetah
Don't blaze no blunts (uh-huh) but I blaze them thangs
Amaze your gang, wit bullets, I rattle your frame
Who's that, bustin at, Big Suburban, hustle that
Play wit three bitches alias and four hustlers
Bustin three glocks, on your block
Yellin my name loud, puttin bombs inside your mailbox"

Sounds kinda pro violence imo....

V Knid esq
13th April 2006, 00:22
Welll.... by all accounts Brett Easton Ellis DID put himself in some pretty dangerous situations through his crazed cocaine lifestyle.

I don't know much about D12 except that they were a fairly minor set of rappers given a huge profile in the hip hop scene thanks to their association with Eminem... and in that world where artistic status and gangsta status are kind of interchangeable, there's always going to be someone who thinks that taking a pop at you is going to lift them up in the world. Very sad.

thepigjockey
13th April 2006, 07:00
Whether it's creative writing or not there are still fools out there who are going to try and emulate that (real or imaginary) lifestyle.

I always thought the homophobic/misogynistic/pro-violence side of hip hop was idiotic and childish, and the death of one of its proponents isn't going to change my mind. Another hip hop martyr, how tedious.

woohoo!

in fairness, though, how does rapping in the first person about violence really differ from someone like bret easton ellis writing in the first person about violence? how come we can accept that something written in a book is likely to be untrue, but have a problem with taking songs the same way?

Well I guess there's the existing stereotype re. gangster rap and writers are often see as bookish, mild sorts. Also, as you mention it's the 'first person' thing and all that stuff we hear about 'keeping it real'. imo the best hip hop is the anti-violence stuff but maybe I'm just getting old :-p

don't get me wrong, i prefer conscious and abstract hip-hop meself. bar the odd few classics like some of the ones phil mentioned, i'm pretty much turned off by the gangster shit

still, i don't think there's anything 'real' about mainstream hip-hop in the 21st century. it's all cartoonish, bluster, playing to type and that, then going home to your hollywood mansion to drink cris till you're a bloated, gout-ridden elviscorpse. not that i don't think he ever walked the walk, but if fiddy suddenly announced that he was never a crack-dealer, but a middle-class drama student plucked out of obscurity by eminem and dre for their new project, and look - these bullet wounds aren't even real... see? they're made of latex! - i wouldn't really be that surprised

e_wann

agree with that 100% but why do they always have to pretend that each single one of them has the biggest cock and trying to make everyone believe that they DO have, big rolex and bling bling all the way, that doesn't come from the streets imo but from the jews (not semetic mentioned :))
and the old classics rule and will keep ruling for me but i just want to say that nowadays they talk about being DA SHIT, but there 100's waiting for them to fall outta popularity and the next one is lined up the money-milking-machine. in the old days they had to 'fight' for rights and more being equal to another. today its about me,myself and my money for them imo. about the books thembuzz: what can i say except: maybe one day this swearing etc in hiphop could become a cultural and 'higher level of perception' but writing about something you have you're own interpretation. and this hiphop thing is more pop(ular) nowadays, looks like to more you curse, shoot, and put a finger up in one song the better.while in a book there a complete story
