Okay I recently picked up one of their records and was totaly blown away. Fantastic production job, tons of layers, and mixture of live insturments and electronics. Fucking cool. I had heard some tracks from them in the past that i liked, but never invested into any records till recently.
What do you guys think, any favorites from these guys??

mouse on mars are my favourite german electronic musicians.. i have been listening to them for nearly 10 years..
if i had to choose a favourite track, it would be the 29 minute track at the end of vulvaland...it says on the tracklisting the track B3 Die Seele Von Brian Wilson is 7:43 long...this is not so! after some silence, it breaks into a screetching techno track top make your blood race!
but really, they are so consistently good, all tracks are excellent - as are all the names of their tracks!
autoditacker is my favourite whole lp.

kraut=german
or alternatively - perhaps he means they are 'herb-like' lol
but the answer to that question is...YES! precision electronics - da best!
for years and years i never heard of detroit techno from my 'hermitage' and thought that Lidell, Aphex, Vogel and MOM were techno *g I still prefer the european style.

if it's precision electronics, it cannot be krautrock, that's for sure.

i've only some old records of Mouse On Mars and i couldn't find any thrilling parts for my at that time. Perhaps i have a look to another stuff of Mouse On Mars directly. Any advocacies?

those guys do the some of the most entertaining interviews as well. pure nonsens!
unfortunately i have never seen them live yet. i drove to the berlin gig last year with some mates but we hung out in a kreuzberg arabian cafe too long and didn't get tickets anymore. damn, but that stuff just tasted so great (can't remember any names).
my favourite mom records: instrumentals and niun niggung (american release).

I agree very much about the quality of MoM-
I have seen them twice here, in Toronto-
The second show- they ahd a drummer that blew my mind!
I _adore_ their older stuff- I am glad to have heard/seen them present their idiology work, (as I may not have heard it the same way when I picked it up for a listen, at the local shop)-
Check out Lithtops as well- Side project of Jan (sp?) fr/ MoM.
They were supposed to be returning this year- supposedly with a different travel set-up (no more drummer- stripped down set-up)-
Sadly, they didn't make it out this way.

I saw them life last month over here... I most say that some of the stuff of their last album was a bit too noisy for me. I liked the melodic electronics from niun nugging better... but their def evolving into a 'real' life band

That's funny, because I found the last album not noisy enough. My favourites are "autoditacker" and "niun niggung"...oh well, I should listen to them once again. And yes, c s, they definitely ARE krauty. But their techno and hiphop influence helps to keep em grounded.
