i like it cos tobias have for me a unique form of comunikation in the musik.........
you mean, that he contain his mental facts in physikal effects, activate trough the interaction between your consideration of your cognition and the picture in the room, wich is the result of your physikal activities, that emerge from your individual painting and organic forms of the sounds.
he creates ways to know, that everything thing in the world have a sound. But........who say you, that youre listen carefully??
i think, this answer have much much names..............

did you still have time left to dance or did he finish his set before you'd finished your thoughtful analysis? lol ;)

i think most of those sessions are done trying to operate some pretty complex machinery under the influence of alcohol , which is on its own is not easy

Must say i never got a peek at what kit he had, was too busy dribbling in a dark corner ;)
What kinda machines does Mr Schmidt use for live out of interest ?

Am listening to the set he played when he come up to Nottingham and played at Mark's night Pneumatic. Haven't listened to it for ages and it is the dogs preverbials...
You know how something you've not listened to for ages suddenly leaps out at you, we had some problems with the recording - some of the monstrous bass coming out of Toby's kit clipped on the recording in places (grrr I hate minidisc), plus the volume seemed of a bit (that might have been the alcohol) and I've done my best to try and work around it. But afterward all I could here when I listened to the set was the clipping, now having given my ears a rest from it I can hear all the good bits... of which there are many...

ok, next time i'll consult my oxford dictionary. ;) i don't see what's 'coruscating & honed' about it though, in fact i thought it was rather some bodenstaendig statement, while you were a bit over-philosophising things... lol

You know when you've been spiraled....
Crystal distortion and 69db rock but the sound has been imitated by a million french wannabees for years on the Teknival scene...
Seems to have come full circle this kind of stuff being played at NH, when "Subversion" was one of the original influences behind this sound...

TOBIAS SCHMIDT - HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING
Format: d12"/ CD
Label/ Labelnumber: Disko B/ DB 109
Release Date: 22.3.2003
'HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING" is TOBIAS SCHMIDT?s 4th solo album. Since 1996 he has released several Eps for TELEPATHIC, SATIVAE, DROUGHT, MOSQUITO, SCANDINAVIA and TRESOR while playing his live pa globally. His previous albums include ?DARK OF HEARTNESS? (Tresor 1999), ?LE CHIMP ATOMIQUE? (Scandinavia 1999) and ?DESTROY? (Tresor 2001). SCHMIDT?s musical career started in Scotland 10 years ago, mixing with the likes of NEIL LANDSTRUMM and DAVE TARRIDA (and many others...) while they all worked to get their studios and clubs off the ground. Moving to brighton in 1999 brought fresh influences, not least from the NO FUTURE crowd (CRISTIAN VOGEL, JAMIE LIDDEL, SUPER_COLLIDER and others) and provoked the birth of SCHMIDT?s own label NEST as an outlet for broader scoped electronic music. ?HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING? sees a change of direction for SCHMIDT, moving into more ?musical? territory while keeping a ?techno?-intensity and concentration. The eleven tracks on this album, including 2 cover versions (THROBBING GRISTLE's ?Hot On The Heels Of Love? and more surprisingly the DELFONICS soul-classic ?Ready Or Not (Here I Come)?), mix a massive synthesizer attack with driving robo-funk drums to create a broody and dark electronic soul music with futuristic city-at-night-feel, both listenable to at home and playable in the clubs.
