alcohol. so says Trevor McDonald tonight - especially home wine drinkers.... wonder if they'll upgrade it to class C? Maybe actually class B might be more suitable?

no way. im doubtful, condidering one of the biggest clinical trials ever, the drinking of alcohol by most of human race since time immemorial, hasnt really highlighted anything.

for sure. drinking causes increased depression and a vast array of other health problems.
Did you know the limit for women a week is only 4 glasses of wine @ 12 percent x current 250ml glasses people use at home? 1 unit is the old small glasses @ 8 percent - a size and strength nobody drinks any more.

Nah drinking does cause depression - its all the depressing shit going on around us that depresses us... (anyone who says contrary is defending the status quo).
Drink isn't the problem - drink is the temporary cure... :)

yes, because you never see people affected by alcohol who - for example - shout at invisible monsters, shit in their trousers and don't bother to clean themselves, try to pick fights with buses, mutter about cockroaches that live in their bowels etc, do you?

i never said that. i did say that it has probably been fairly well established since time immemorial that it is safe. you dont see casual binge drinkers covered in piss and talking to the bus window. no, its absolute ancient jakeballs that have probably been pissed every day since they were 16. fuck knows what that does to your head, but its not exactly anything like how the majority of people experience booze.
mark my words smoke ban-fans. its alcohol we cant be trusted with next.

Yer_Maw

is there a link between breathing air and insanity? I remember a study that said that 100% of mentalists had breathed air during their lives.

alcohol is safe?

I had to do a study of the affects of alcohol on the brain once, for a doorman's course wot my then-employer was writing.
Its basically a skeleton-key and rather small, as a molecule. In other words, it can get into just about anywhere and then attach itself to any and all of your brain's neurotransmitters.
In other words, it is capable of causing just about any response, depending on the unique combination of whatever is already in your bonce. It mimics both depressants and stimulants at the same time. Imagine coke + 6 weeks of cumulative prozac use.
Face it, a hangover is worse than any come-down.
No its not safe. not even close. It makes most of the illegal drugs look pitifull.
Does that stop me enjoying stupid quantities of cider? nah!!!!

booze is proper class A material...not many drugs can cause death if you are an addict and suffering withdrawal.

no way i'm agreeing with that.
edit : try having paranoid auditory hallucinations coming down off copious cheap acid, dirtbar, e's and wizz in the middle of a field camped in a cramped tent flooded with bong water in the dark with only a generator to listen to for the 3rd night in a row...
actually it was quite a laugh come to think of it,[edit2] but i'd still rather deal with work or family with a hangover than coming down apart from maybe off charlie.
Whuffle
28th February 2006, 17:53
isn't that just because chang is illegal and thereby lies much of the paranoia? If you have had a skinful, its possible to just say to friends and family "arggg, lemme alone, I am hungover" but not always convenient to say how come-down-ish you are.
I reckon its a matter of the amount: if you have overindulged in the above, more than you have on booze, then sure, it will be the worst you have known.
but a normal night on the beer vs a night on chang or pills (those are pretty bad these days, mind) i would take the consequences of drugx anytime.
Maybe its just me, but I also get paranoia and depression after a beer sesh anyhow.

28th February 2006, 19:29
i'm fine with chang full stop generally, maybe a bit too fine really - i'm sure a couple of times i've put my self in situations where i'm clearly off my face and i've decided: nah they can't tell it's only a bit of charlie.. but anything else(e's or wizz especially) it's eyeball tennis and paranoia all the way.
