Hello world, bear with me here, but i was wondering if anyone could possibly help me with some reaktor basic's. Ive managed to learn some things though one of our freinds on the board, but im still lacking the fundamentals to design and put together modules,sequences,etc...Ive just udated my version of reaktor from 3.0 to 3.05 and honesty cant tell the differnces due to the lack of knowledge.
My first problem is how do i sequence a sound i want from a module that ive downloaded. Example//i have a module called chonndo, and its based on a x,y axis, which i can move my mouse over the area and make sounds. ive figured out this much, but my question is, how do i isolate a certain sound or movement and sequence it in a pattern of some sort.
These are the basics i lack and would love to learn, from the post's and past topics ive seen, i know you guys have a good knowledege of whats going on with this program, and i desire some help if you guys can spare it. thanks/pille

a dongle is means of hardware copy protection, they used to be at the printer port, now they're small usb-sticks. reaktor uses it, too. if you had a 'downloaded' version and updated it with the official update, the protection which was removed from 3.0 is restored and it cannot be started without a dongle anymore.
for recording those xy-movements as midi sequence check another recent topic here (http://www.no-future.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=1809) - or if you meant you just want to record the sounds then just activate the recorder toolbox on the top and record a file.

inside Reaktor or in a sequencer?
as to R3 vs R3.05: if it's giving you probs, just roll back to R3, you won't be missing much.

well since i dont have a dongle or what ever.i think i will probally go back to 3.0. i just want to be able to take a certain sample, or movement that gernerates a sample, isolate this sample, and be able to use this in a step sequencer, like nuendo.i guess use it as a plug-in, but i dont want to get ahead of myself. i dont know, im still messing around with how to build things and use the basics.im reading the tutorials on the NI site, but im having problems catching up with the examples. i guess it will just take time.

It seems your not working with the proper Reaktor libraries for 3.05...
Just go at the store or on Native website and BUY A LEGAL COPY WITH THE USB DONGLE.
Crack user are a shame!... cau'z if you go on the user librairie on their site, u will be able to download near a 1000 instruments. Only for that you will get your money back.

who's rubberduck? i remember a freeware pattern sequencer/analogue synth emulation of that name. the film with burt was about him trying to escape with a sheriff's daughter. they're being hunted by her fat father but all the truck drivers in the area are burt's good friends, they help them to escape by driving in convoys and pushing police cars off the road. quite demanding movie. ;)

Crack user are a shame!... .
I personally find it smarter to experiment with free software then to shell out a $500 for something you might not be very interested in, or capable of using. Time limited demos don't work for some people, as the learning curve could be to steep for them. Not to mention, those on the youthful side of the life spectrum often find themselves without the funds to even discover whether they have an aptitude (or desire) for this kind of stuff. The concept of cracked, hack, phracked and generally wacked out software appeals to my notion of fair play to all classes and age brackets. If synthesizers weren't the exclusive play things of upper class white folk for the first 20 years of their existence, I wonder what contemporary music might sound like today (yeah yeah, sun ra and herbie hancock, name 5 others :))? That's the one thing that bugs me about reading historical treatises on the synthesiser, everybody involved at the beginning (from Don Buchla to Walter Carlos) were exclusively from posh backgrounds (inspite of buchla's name, I mainly cite the players, Bob Moog was middle class, but people like Paul Beaver and John Cage were pretty upper crust).
I personally learned nearly everything I know about software synthesis from cracked or "warezed" products. That's not to say I wouldn't buy a quality product if I found myself enjoying it (hell, most of the time it's worth it simply for the documentation).. but only a fool would put down $500 unrefundable dollars on an unknown variable. ;)
Only products worth buying, imho, are the cycling74 and native instrument suites. Logic NEEDS to be purchased simply for the docs, and cubase isn't worth shite, but is *slightly* less crash prone if legal then otherwise.
Plugins are a whole other ball of wax, most aren't worth it.. but I'd support Hyperprism and Waves with my dollars (if they ever release AU plugins).
Just my $.23... Hail eris..

well, i have to protest (as usual ;)) and state that i've had no single crash with cubase sx yet, not even with the wildest combination of plugins/synths. don't compare what you once heard of cubase 3.7. on windows 98 (wasn't cool indeed) to today, the times-they-are-a-changing...
as for copied software: well, if there's is no other way of getting it and if you wouldn't have bought it anyway for money reasons, then a company loses no money. the game industry always has these statistics 'we lose 100 million $' which is of course a joke. no (normal) kid can afford 5 games per month.

Same here. I have been using pirated software in the past, and I'm pretty sure 99% of beginning laptop composers start off that way.
Say you're 17 and want to find out if all this talk about being able to become a producer just by using your pc holds any truth; you haven't got a clue what Cubase or Reason can do for you... how are you going to find out? by downloading a crippled demo or a fully functional cracked version? c'mon let's get real... after some time of experimenting I made up my mind that Reaktor was definitely the way to go for me, so I started with buying that one, the rest followed later; I have no problem with anyone following the same route.
So I suppose what it boils down to is that the moral high stance of copy = theft doesn't impress me that much. Although.... a couple of weeks ago I organized a concert with 3 artists, one of them being a local; he brought his computer and played his music with a *cracked* version of Cubase.. This got me thinking to be honest: with my legally payed for Cubase licence I have in a sense been sponsoring his carrier... :s

Crack user are a shame!... in the case of Reaktor, cauz what you've got with the warez or crack version is a small set of instruments... It's a shame in the sense of when u see the massive user librairie on Native website... Reaktor could cost u as low as 50 cents per instruments and u can expend by 1000 your creativity.

well, i'm licensed (now) but i hardly ever check the library, for several reasons: a) no time to look at 1000 instruments, let alone understand them, b) i think reaktor was created to build your own, unique stuff, that's the fun of it!, c) probably i'd find out my stuff is not unique and i don't want to know that for it took so many hours... lol

You're right... lol... it depends on how you see the life.
Let's pretend I earn 40 000$ a year... why should I spend more then 30hrs to find what I'm looking for?
Anyway in a world of sharing... we will see the colapse of the music industrie (mp3 kill the video star!) and maybe the development of nice music tool with crack version... try-it, but if u like it..go and buy-it!

ok looked it up. it was kris kristofferson. :)
he was much cooler than burt.
c s

yeah kristofferson was a lot tougher than burt. ;) but the film i meant was indeed some low-fi joke movie with burt reynolds. as pille said, 'smoky and the bandit' might very well be the original title. i remember kristofferson from 'flashpoint', i heard of 'convoy' but i don't know if i ever watched it. anyway the desert is that guy's home, that's for sure. lol
