yes he is a horror author.
he writes first class horror shockers with a lot of splatter, tension and even more important:subtle black humour.
One well-known film(Barker wrote the book): Hellraiser
even stephen king is fascinated by Clive Barker´s stories.

Yeah Hellraiser, I love the movies, I used a lot of samples of them in my productions...
I've been looking for the books for a while but without success...

i think i liked hellraiser the movie I but it's been a while since i've seen it. are the sequels worth checking out ?
as for stephen king, i really liked some older movies, for example i think 'the fog', 'shining', 'escape from ny' and this antarctica one where made after king books. but his style of writing is definitely not my cup of tea. then i prefer h.p.lovecraft for tasteful horror.

yes that's right. steven king also writes too slow for my likes. sometimes theres next to nothing happening for a hundred of pages - maybe housewives have the time to read that. the shorter ones like 'cat-eye' are pretty good though.
if you are into hellraiser just check out the first three parts. the other ones are not really so good anymore. my personal favourite is no.2.

Well, I really like Stephen King and I've almost read all of his books. I understand your point of view, as he describes really exactly and some of the time is it a bit too long (that's something in has in common with Tolkien...). I don't like the movies made after books from him (ok, Shining was good but that's because of Kubrick's mad brain ;) ). But as always, it is really a matter of taste.

also the 'the dark tower' books? what do you think about them?
when i was younger i loved kingbooks, but today, hmm, i know why hes not so beloved by the critics. just stories without saying anything, but thats just my op

Yes, I read last month the fourth book of the dark tower, It was hard to read the first one, but I loved the 3 others, really waiting for the next sequels. It's different from what he normally makes.
About the stories without saying anything, I don't really agree but well that's also only my opinion... If all people would like the same things, life would be boring... ;)
