Again one of those days where catastrophy is looking for you and there's no way to avoid it...
This happened : the guy living above my appartment capsized his bath and with this ruined 2 full boxes of my best disks with his stinky fluids. 2 years of my life-music soaked down the drain.
Does anybody know of a way to treat vinyl that has been infected with water, dirt and body-juices?
That really hurt! :(

damn! I feel for you man. I do hope you have renters insurance so you can at least recoupe the cost of your records.
I have to have also heard of washing vinyl in light soapy water. and then I guess letting them air dry. I myself have never done it but at this point I don't see how it could hurt.
maybe a little gruv glide to boot.

I know there was one on the OL board a while back, but I don't remember one here.

record washing machines exist, and afaik have existed for some time. the prices range from something like 20€ to insane... check htfr.co.uk's vinyl care section...

that is a dark grim day... i can't offer up any tips on the washing process, but i can't see how soapy water would hurt them... just make sure you get all of the soap off so there's no residue left over. damn man... that really hurts... but now you can crank your music really loud and hold that shit over his head! "you bastard.. don't complain! you dumped your shit on me now i'm dumpin my shit on you!" hope the recuperation goes well...

Your sleeves are fucked but at least you can easily replace them.
I,ve had mud, special brew, candlewax! on records before now and they are fine after a bit of the old soap and water.
The candlewax obviously wouldn't come of properly with soap and water so the way i did that was to scrape the most of it off then get an old stylus and weight it down loads and play it a few times, bingo!
I'd still get insurance off the bastard though.....

Ive been using the warm (not hot) lightly soapy water thing for years..standard dish washing liquid is best..air dry in the dish rack...they should be fine...
