View Full Version : how does your cock crow in the morning?

Ladytron

this morning while waking up me and mdk were disagreeing about how does the cock crow.

i say it like this: KuukkUUuuuriiikkuuUUUUU

and he says something like: Cock-a-doodle-do (i even couldn't write it. i need his help). since when cocks are yodelling?!

i'm just curious what everyone else think about this.

btw, good morning

cocks do not yodle, there's no l's or d's in their crow.
cocks here say kukkokiekuu

Cock-a-doodle-doo sounds sort of redneckesque, btw.

My Gentle Cock

I have a gentle cock
Who crows the day;
He gets me up early
My prayers to say.

I have a gentle cock,
He's descended from the great;
His comb is of red coral,
His tail is of black.

His legs are azure,
So gentle & so small;
His spurs are of silver
Down to the wall.

His eyes are of crystal,
Set all in amber;
& every night he perches
In my lady's chamber.

well aint all cocks different in each land when you see a vocal pronaunciation of a barking dog, lets say in comics: i bet in each language its a different bark so why wouldn't cocks be multi-langual

Hanoimé
19th January 2006, 11:03
but there is no l's or d's in the crow! even if you pronounce it the english way, you can still hear the l's and d's. l

now listen to the cock.... none!

a dog barks woof (engl) or hau (fin), but both sound right, so thats ok.

i think the British have better ears. Otherwise we wouldn't have given the world Coldplay, The Editors, The Killers, The Zutons, Kaiser Chiefs, Futureheads and Hard-Fi.

cows don't ACTUALLY say MOO. they don't. there's no M in the moo that cows say.

so why do we perpetuate the myth that cows say moo? why do we poison our childrens minds by feeding them such madness?

my god, what have we done?

god you think cows are troublesome... I'm constantly in a state of frenzy trying to recocile Luca's big eyed expectant expression with the fact that I have no idea what noise a rabbit makes! Or the difference between a sheep and a goat... he just looks at me like he's thinking "dont try and tell me a goat says the same a sheep.... what do you take me for??"

I've had the same conversation with my finnish gf. I've been put in my place.

Also, according to the finns I know, cows go 'amoooo' not 'mooooo'. Amazing how they are able to articulate that small difference between an 'a' and an 'ooo'.

I do admit that it also probably can't pronounce a k or n.

They go 'oink', except when they are sniggering at a smutty innuendo when they go 'hrrr hrrrr'.

Then there's the whole running home from market business, but that's another whole hornet's nest we don't want to get bogged down in.

the french cock says cocorico

cocks crows have 4 syllables. fack. us brits are suffering from the same horrific verbal disease as flanders who says 'okely dokely' instead of okey dokey.

the british cock blatantly should be saying 'cock a doo doo' there is NO need for an l, it is simply an elaborate victorian embellishment

I just googled animal noises and found this (http://www.georgetown.edu/faculty/ballc/animals/rooster.html) site. The sound of a 'rooster' as it calls it (obviously American) is different in every language. The name 'cock' comes from the English version though so we must be right!

I took evening classes for a year and a bit in London and now I'm just about to start a course here. It's hard but well done for trying, a much better attempt than I would have made anyway ;) You're studying it for a very good (the best?) reason anyway..
