so I came across larry king live on cnn last night, and he had author james frey on there. aparantly the smoking gun website was looking for a mug shot of james for their site and upon further investigating found that parts of the memoir a million little pieces was either fabricated or embeleshed. you can read the article at www.thesmokinggun.com and you can also visit james' site at www.myfriendleonard.com.

I've read the book, good read. Pretty fucking obvious that it's not all true though. You'd be dead for starters, and if you were caning that much shit how the fuck would you remember it all (unless you carried a dictaphone or diary or something on you - highly unlikely for an Alcoholic, Drug Addict & Criminal). I'm surprised he actually attempted to keep up this facade. I assumed the memoir categorisation was simply a marketing ploy by the publisher.

i really loved both the books and have found them to be a worthy kick in the arse when feeling low. "Get the finger out, stop moaning and get back to the music"....that kinda thing.

does it make it less of a good book if some of it is untrue....no, but the story was sold as a memoir...so perhaps it does.

I read '...Pieces' about 2yrs ago and it's been funny seeing it get more and more popular. Good for him.

However, there was NO fucking need to go on Oprah. :)
