deadly stuff

When in Dublin over new years i lost count of the amount of times i heard the word deadly.

Everybody says it. Even the taxi drivers....:)

pointless. An hour of two otherwise very funny men stroking each other tenderly while whispering "its funny because its true" mantra-like into each others shell-like.

pointless.

Duh. I didnt actually get it what Goone was on about from the thread title.

Pointless was the exact word i used. Stopped watching after half hour...was that the run up to Curb Your Enthusiasm being shown on Ch4 or something?

I thought some of the politics show - about 10-15 mins - was really really funny, as good as any other 'classic' stand-up ... but the 'mean guy who is TOTALLY unpc, but he doesn't REALLY mean it wink wink' shtick is getting a bit tired, I actually think hes funnier than that... By the way what was up with Gervaise's bizarre/wierdo relationship with his mate'human stressball'? 'I like to wait in the shower for 20 mins for him to return so I can jump out?!?'

loon-o!

I watched it, having nothing better to do. I've never seen Curb, but from the clips, might seek it out now, looked very funny. As for Gervais standup, he can be funnier, that show had a bit too much "I don't really mean it" going on, which ruins that sort of humour, it gets boring someone being really rude, then apologising right afterwards again and again. I definitely think his scriptwriting in The Office and Extras is better than just him on his own, but maybe that's Stephen Merchant's input.

i thought it was great. two talented people having a chat about what they do. Wasnt backsplapping at all, they are both at the top of the game - was evesdropping more than an interview. Im just glad it wasnt parko.

i thought it was tame and not as insightful as i'd hoped it would be, there were some funny bits here and there. the way ricky was sitting annoyed me.

The end was a bit sad I thought. They could have gone for a drink or two afterwards but would deliberate too long over where while the crew while packing up. THen Larry would end up going back and eating at his hotel while Ricky and the Producer went out, had a mediocre meal and a couple of drinks before calling it a night because they were tired rather earlier than they would if Larry had come out.

Ricky ain't at the top of his game at the moment, hope he gets back up there though.

Curb your enthusiasm took me about 10 episodes before I really enjoyed it.. but I think I was unlucky cos I just saw a lot of the slower dryer ones first. It's brilliant.
