hmm, seems i have to try all of these, i'll definately gotta try your recipe platinumray! sounds tasty, and probably the best thing to do on a cold wet winter evening. plus it's a good excuse for getting drunk.

yes, you can also substitute water for hot apple juice and mixed spice for the ultimate cockle warming experience.

My old housemate works in Oddbins and he was moved to a new store told to tidy out the store room which was just filled with loads of junk!

He found a Distillers Sample box with 4 different bottles of Single Malt, the youngest was 18 years old and the oldest was 25. needless to say he didn't bother telling his boss what he had found in the store room... and that was some fine, fine alcohol indeed...

It had a book in it that said that Scotches used to always be blended until an Italian Prince on a visit to Scotland tasted a Single Malt at a particular distillery and insisted on having a barrel of this Single Malt sent home, in spite of the distillers insisting that it really should be blended with other Malts first... I think there was custom of trading barrels of Single Malts between Distilleries and then creating the Blends.

I think the Blended thing is misunderstood some poeple think that it is poorer quality.

Maybe this is a good year for Whisky - been drinking too much Brandy its getting a bit boring...

....NEWSFLASH.... Ian are quitting brandy klub? i can't believe it....

geese
16th January 2003, 02:17
hmm, blends can be good e.g. Chivas

Yes Basic ,you miserable excuse for a Scot - even an english gurly like me knows Chivas isn't a single malt.

At this very minute i am stupifying myself with the Orkney malt "Scapa" in preparation for another day at work tomorrow.

I also dig Islay malts, particularly Ardberg.

Englishmen should avoid drinking Glenkinchie at all costs. Upon consumption, they have been found, without exception, to hallucinate that they are being buggered by Dr David Starkey (the constitutional historian) whilst tossing off Brian Sewell (art critic) with the midddle and 4th fingers of theri left hands and shedding tears over the poignancy of a dyed blue dachshund with an uncracked brazil nut in its mouth. When the hallucination is over
they thqueel and thqueel and thqueel until they are thick.

The effects on germans and Americans are significantly more distressing and no less specific.

hmm, very tired now. more whisky!
