Wow, I never knew Rowan Atkinson played in a Doctor who spoof! Being a yank, this interesting bit of tele magic has escaped me until now.

Anyhow, I'm downloading a torrent of this now.. Sounds brilliant - is it?

I'm a big Tom Baker era Who fan, but haven't gotten around to torrenting this new series which aired earlier this year, is that any good as well?

Anyhow, quick post as I'm off.. just figured somebody here could enlighten me to all this. :)

btw - for somebody who isn't very exposed to Rowan Atkinson's genius, or british comedy in general, what Rowan "thing" (i.e. movie, episode, performance special, etc) would you suggest I show them?

Personally, I thought he was a bit of an idiot until I saw the full run of Black Adder and a very interesting (but sadly unfindable) mr.bean special that ran on Comedy Central several years back. Since I'm not a big fan of downloading gigs of torrent material, a single thing that I might be able to find - yet really shows off his talents - would make a fine holiday suggestion.

he is an idiot. blackadder is all about ben elton and richard curtis. Your should probably looking for the formers stuff 80's/early 90s.

Not that Ben Elton's recent stuff can be praised - Thin Blue Line and Blessed are terrible

Oh... so I was right in the first place? So, what do I do with all this excess respect I've been carrying around in my pockets for him?

Yeah, been there. Use to be a huge Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson (i'm a weird lill american, hell I was spinning Mosquito records back in the 90s as well :)).

What did that show have to do with Rowan Atkinson?

What about Bottom, for top Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson action.

You know, I've never been able to find Bottom here in the states (have to admit to not looking *all* that hard, but I have looked). I think I happened across half an episode once somewhere (bbc america?) as I have this vague memory of rick Mayall dressed like a bland older guy being silly, but I tend to not watch things I catch only bits of (especially stuff I'm really into).

Thanks for reminding me. Now that I'm in portland it might be easier to track down a rental.

Not the Nine O'Clock News...

Rowan Atkinson's early stand up was quite funny from what I remember of the stuff Dad had on vinyl... but I was about ten when I listened to them so it could be shit.
