I went thorugh all of highschool without being properly shown how to write one.
I got pissed off and taught myself years later. Best way to do is with one of those GED books...probably called something else over where you are. but it's the highschool equivalancy test prep book. has all the stuff they're supposed to teach you but dont in highschool. essays included.

arrgh, i wouldn't even class it as an essay to be honest, but the college do. i've just got to choose a producer/engineer and ramble on about gear and techniques.
tbh, once i get settled down i'll do it in an hour.

i was the king of writing short essays. i once got a C for less than a side of A4!
by the way, that sounds more like actual fun than an essay...

I used to really enjoy writing politics essays @ college/uni. Only on the rare occasion would I actually get it outta the way weeks in advance... I usually ended-up doing the 'night before it's due in' routine though! The pressure seemed to be a good drive

I'm going to have to hand in my MA essay the day after my birthday so I'm trying to get it out of the way now. The hardest part is starting and I've done the first 1500 words.

well, i found out i don't have to hand it in until tomorrow. now i'd better decide who to do it on! i was thinking Autechre from an electronic side of things, as there's a very comprehensive article on them (or as comprehensive i'm gonna get when it comes to Autechre) on sos (and they're very techy), but then from an engineers viewpoint, i might do it on toby wright (the engineer/producer on Metallicas '...And Justice For All'), cos he employs some really unconventional and and fucked up mic-ing techniques, and gets good results.
och i don't know...

well, i ended up rabbiting on about authechre. i probably should've done it on toby wright, but i didn't. not to worry, i just aced a small test on dba readings and the structure of the human ear, so i feel ok.

I hated it because we only had to write one thing, the dissertation, and it hung over you the whole two years. We never got to use the time allocated as we were working on projects that run over. So then you have to write the whole thing cold in a week and a half, and if it's not good enough you don't pass. It's just unneccesarily stressful. Our deadline was September and I'm only the second editor (out of six) to have done it!

Nasty, we had quite a bit of practice on my course before the big one.. and luckily we could work at home too.
I was supposed to hand mine in back in Sept too ;)
