Hey

Anyone know how to hook up a mac with a pc?? So they can share files?
Do I need any programs or??

help needed...

naw a router is something else entirely. you can just put the two boxes into the same rj45 network, have them both use tcp/ip, and then for instance set up ftp servers on both machines.

alternatively, there's services for macintosh from microsoft available for win nt and upwards, which lets windows machines set up apple readable shares. there's thirdparty tools that do this in a even better way, but the names escape me right now.

there's a program called 'Dave' that lets you access a pc from your mac. You need to install this on your macwww.thursby.com/products/dave.html (http://www.thursby.com/products/dave.html)
I tried the link but the site seems down today...

I know there were two other programs for allowing MACs to access PCs, but they were meant for larger LANs I guess - those are the ones I worked with back in the day but I still can't remember what they were called *argh*

you probably should hook up with some kind of third-party software though, cause if you only use ms/apple software, any bugs are blamed on the opposing party, i.e. ms saying it's apple that's not adhering to some standard and vice versa.
