I know this is a bit iVillage, but bear with me, i'm honestly curious:
Finally got over my contempt for trend striken yogis / yoginis and signed up for Ashtanga.
I've been brainwashed, but I shall enjoy it!
I'm an ex dancer (sounds a tad awful and suspicious...) but have done literally nothing for about five years now. Except the drunken/toxicated or otherwise casual spasms at certain parties.
Do you do some form of physical exercise? Excluding the obvious i.e. incredible sex and taking stairs instead of the lift!

BMXing at break neck speeds is my current form of exercise. I have nearly killed myself on more than one occassion.
Nearly got hit by white van man earlier.
Other than that, Walking at break neck speed is the only other exercise i really get...

i used to do taekwondo, it was amazing, but i'm too lazy to go back. it's ironic in the fact that when i did it i didn't feel nearly as lazy, as i was getting regular physical exercise. i reckon i'd be round about black belt now as well, which is even more disheartening.

I cycle to the station most days (about 6 miles). I play table-tennis every day at college and football once a week. I do Yoga when I get around to going - I used to go twice a week in Brighton. I do Tai-Chi although I haven't been to lessons for ages. I do 200 sit-ups, 100 Press-Ups, and Back and Leg stretches every morning because I don't have the time to go to classes regularly at the moment and it's good to stay fit. God that makes me sound like an health freak - I'm not! It's fun to use your body and good for your head.

@ FiST:
Well I woke up in bed without any bruises or scrapes and the bike is in the hall, so I assume the journey must have passed without incident, but I couldn't really say for sure.

Jimmy fell off twice on his way home. He went through Queen's Park and went down the hill so he could get some speed up.
He's fucked his leg.

Badminton and beachvolley at the summer in the park...
Carrying my recordcase through several german train stations was also a "sport" for me...

I'm going to try Ashtanga again. Last time I did it I was totally inflexible, and that really knocks your motivation...I want it to be easier!!! My gf does it a lot, but she's a lot more flexible than me. And that really pisses me off ; )

I go Nordic Walking when I can be bothered. Think I'm the only male under 35 who does so in the world.

I run for at least 30 minutes around 5 mornings a week - I find it a good chance to listen to promo CDs without distraction (and to guage whether they 'get me going' as it were). Wish I still did Tai Chi - it makes you feel fantastic. @Dirtyho do you know anywhere in london that does the same style as Simon used to teach in Brighton (Chen Man Ching's Yang style short form, something like that...)?

I started yoga when I was in London - bloody brilliant, who gives a fuck if it's the super trendy thing to do. Haven't taken it up again here in Pompey, because a) everywhere only seems to do Hatha yoga, b) you need your own mat and shit, but mostly c) cos I'm a lazy bastard and let a) and b) become barriers too easily...
So who knows maybe santa will come calling with yoga equipment...
I went to the North London Buddhist Centre on Holloway Road and they're very nice and definitely recommended by me...

i play football once a week, which is a damn sight better than the NO exersise ive done for the previous 8 years or so. The gym is boring and shite, could never understand it.

How can people exercise while looking at a wall/shit TV? Can't understand it either.

Yeah I tried gym it's rubbish... I suppose if you got into actually building serious muscle you'd need it but fuck all that... I like running round my local parks every day - since I started doing it regularly I really notice the change in the seasons much more...

@knid - I actually do know of a guy that does that style, he was one of John Eastman's top students in London (the guy that taught me & Simon). I have his details somewhere, I'll dig them out. BTW I lost my phone and don't have your number anymore. Can you PM or email me with it?

Gym seems weird to me, all the machines is kind of a novelty I guess. But watching TV while doing exercise? Sports are good because you focus on the task at hand and learn to make your movements more effective/efficient. Tai-Chi and Yoga are good like that too because you have to focus on what you are doing, be aware of your body rather than daydreaming about something up in your head. I reckon the gym could get you into bad habits.
