I heard about this on Friday but it was a bit overshadowed in the press by George Best's death. RIP.

i didn't know he was nominated for an oscar for is original mr miyagi role in the 1984 classic. something new everyday eh?

Apparently he didn't know any karate and they had a stunt double for him in the more demanding scenes... but by the end of filming he had got right into it and was becoming really good.
