Get your snow boots out, make sure your fridge is stocked with soup and your freezer is full of bread - the chance of snow this week is 100%.According to forecasters, most of Britain will be blanketed with the white stuff from Thursday.Metcheck.com believes the flakes could begin to fall from Thursday evening and by midnight, the chance of snow will have reached 100% for many parts of the country.
i bet, it snows so much my flight to inverness is canceled on friday.

a few weeks back the meteorologists were saying that due to movements in Atlantic cold water currents there was a 67% chance (don't ask me where they get these figures from) that we were going to have the coldest winter on record, even colder than the 'mini-ice-age' in the 19th century when the Thames froze over several years running. I don't know what they're saying now, but it's all quite exciting (though not for my poor little old car :( )

They have huge super computers that attempt to model and predict weather patterns.
Over the years as the processing power has got greater they attempt to pack in more variables and break their simulations down into ever smaller and more details chunks. The computers have to be able to process in real time, otherwise the results would arrive after the weather and consequently be useless...
Meteorology I believe is one of the major reasons for super computer development...

I know that snow can be a total pain in the arse, but I'm hoping that it will - proper heavy snow that settles & doesn't turn into scummy black ice after one day!

You live in London, ergo 99% of all snow will be transformed into off-grey sludge by about 3pm...
head up to Hampstead Heath for the other 1%

yehaa. i fucking *love* winter. bring on the snow. i'll be up in the highlands for christmas too, we'll have the proper up-to-yer-armpits drifts up there if we're lucky. pain in the arse like but being snowed in with no electricity is fun once in a while.

cause you cant find anything to sledge down...
they used to be this group of fundraising types from round that way called the 'Fenland Mountaineering Association' who would climb from say Crowland to Ely (a journey involving zero gradient, along the floor - with full climbing gear, ropes/ice picks/helmets an all) - quite funny...
(that) - sentance is, a syntax 'nightmare':,_.. orang feel free to slap my wrists!

Oi - don't shatter the illusion! I can only hope, innit... is the snow gonna settle where you are? probably will actually :)
Anywho, a massive fog dropped over london @ about 16:30 today - felt proper cold - winter is coming....
