sounds cool. I remember Tom tearing my face off at Glasto about 4 years ago/ No bass, just his laptop and a bed side table lamp. 2 hours pretty much solid noise and him occasionally screaming into a microphone "scream if you want to go faster!", "come on you fucking cunts!" and various other things
then I saw him last year, and couldn't dance because of all the fucking chinstrokers trying desperately to find a good place so they could see what he was doing. Who cares, listen to the music.

1997 (maybe 1998..can't remember) @ Glastonbury, Sunday, 11am...Jazz stage..
..Tom delivered the most stupidly fast acid techno set i have ever born witness too. Nuts isn't the word.

Full of them last night too, you can't see anything but two laptops and a bass guitar so whats the point? Much better going mental in the acid mash-pit..

i went along, had the best night in yonks...he properly tore it up. i have to say the jazzband bit at the start was a bit too jazz club for my tastes, but it shows how fucking good he is on the bass...well impressed

at glasto last year, the place was full of them, so no one could move. SP had built a massive wall from flight cases, monitors and his MS-20 and hid behind that, so you couldn't see anything at all, and yet people still tried to look over or around it
I would have gone to see him this year, but it was well muddy and I was fucked off my face by 7pm, so I didn't bother. Wish I had gone now.

I remember him doing the dance tent at Glasto '96, playing the opening set off his tits from the night before and saying stuff like "who wants some mushrooms for breakfast?" on the mic. He must have used a dat because he ended up in the middle of the crowd at one point and reappeared on stage to play some bass over it later. Quality!

Best squarepusher set I've seen is the one he did at Glastonbury in the Avalon stage, I think it was 98.
Pretty much all 808 606 303 101 action with a bit of jungle mentalism thrown in at the end. Was at a similar time to when he did the Buzz Caner LP on Rephlex.
"Are you ready to rave..."
@ Nik Nak, Gypsy_Cream & Skosh you should all definatly come down to Bangface in the New Year! ;)

Just flew back home after a week of Londoning which started with the Squarepusher gig. The night was an absolute pleasure, I'm getting short of breath even writing about it now. Sweetness & sweatness, I want more of this! It is just perfection when one gets to dance to music which completely takes you away. How nice it is to wake up with dance-achy feet. So good it hurts!

@Hanoime....is squarepusher 'doing' finland on this tour? Just wondering if you know. I'm going there for a few weeks over xmas, and am trying to catch as many good gigs as possible. The only one I've booked so far is Saul Williams at Tavastia, helsinki.

Oh no, he's not 'doing' us Finns.
I'll be keeping my ears & eyes open for happenings and keep you posted. Are you going to recide mainly in Helsinki area?
So, you're going to travel all this way to meet Father Christmas? Make sure you let him know when you're coming, since he's hardly ever home around Christmas time! Mrs C will be there, though.

you finns crack me up! Not one finnish person that I've met has broken into a smile or chuckle when speaking of santa claus.
My gf is finnish - from Ivalo, way up north - which means we're there a lot. I'll be in Helsinki for a while but I have to get to lapland after the saul williams gig (20th dec) so it might be only a short visit to the capital. I love it in helsinki though - a really special place, as is finland in general.

Wow, Ivalo is really way up. Lapland is quite magical in the winter. And in the summer, mind you. So, you've secured a white christmas, us southerners don't know how it's gonna turn out.
Right now, the weather here is just taking the piss. Dark and wet, no sight of snow, sleet if we're lucky. But up north is a different story.
How is Santa going to travel with his sleigh if there's no snow?!?
dan gulberry
25th November 2005, 14:28
hmmm, doesn't santa travel via the medium of air? or is that a Coke invention? While we're on the topic, why do finns still believe santa dresses in red and white?
Hmmm, dark, wet, sleety helsinki. sounds lovely! At least you;re prepared for the winter. Here, the houses are terribly insulated, and I guarantee everything will come to a halt should we go below -10 (which apparentlt might be on the cards). I'd rather go to a colder country where people know how to stay warm!

Could be... But it's always on the evening news at some point in december here, when santa leaves his house and embarks on his trip round the world, then he has a sleigh and reindeers. Although last christmas i saw a very drunken and skinny santa cycling in the snowstorm...
What else is a santa supposed to wear than red and white?! Back in the day (about a 100 yrs ago) i think he used to don fur and "tuohivirsu" and a "kontti", but nowadays... I mean, what colours does he wear round your house?
