1990 Jungle vs 1993/4 Techno... used to listen to Crimewatch on Wear FM up in the NE with Smokey Joe playing lots of Ray Keith dub plates. Subnation's Scotty stuff like that. Jungle kicked off massively up there, when it was pretty underground in London. The old Boojaka nights were phat.

91-92 exodus crew - jump up! I was into meat beat and stuff like that before getting into raving. I got into techno after that - I saw Phuture live at the Ministry of Sound when I was 18 - the sound system and whole experience blew me away. But I still have fond memories of dangereous warehouses in Luton full of guys who would have stabbed you any other day of the week. Safe!

Exodus was my drugs and dancing education. Out all night on pills and cheap whizz, than back to the folks for a monosyllabic roast dinner before running away to my friends house to hide in his barn and smoke weed all day. Hmmm, school on Monday, seemed kind of pointless at the time. It wasn't though, I've had to waste all that time going back to do my A-Levels etc. It was jolly good fun though.

You are an everyday junglist mate ;)

JonnySpeed
18th November 2005, 09:31
junglist soldier... cos jungle is a mix of uptempo hop-hip breaks and reggie/dub/ragga. breakcore is a mix of industrial tekkers and uptempo hip-hop. deifferent you see. i rekon.

got loads of mates that love Jungle but hate various other dnb from jazzstep like LTJB to hardstep like ED Rush.

Everybody i know round my way is into or plays / produces dnb. MC Conrad is from my town so there has been a connection since the rave days. Total Science live down the road in Oxford, Blame down the road in Dunstable, Bukem in Watford area...Its hard to escape.

JonnySpeed

i remember taking some Smokey Joe tapes to a mates house in Hull in 1991 and everybody just going bazzzzerk over how fucking cool it was and truely heard some completely different music .i rekon.

shame jungle isn't a proper scene anymore. most of the ragga has been completely stripped out of dnb.

rim shots and speeded up vocals is were its at.

some people would say dnb and jungle are the same

drum and bass got so diverse, i'm not keen on the jazzy or liquid stuff or what they call jump up now

[b]racket where do you live?
