My girlfriend is well into her dancehall ragga stuff, she has loads of stuff on the Greensleeves label, so that might be worth checking out.

Lee "Scratch" Perry - King of Dub Supreme :)
Check Trojan Records....they were like the biggest Reggae/Dub exporter back in the day.......
If not, I caught a recent compilation series called "Blood Lines" on One Stop Records, which compiles alot of the Trojan back-catalogue, a great introduction at any rate........

Admiral Bailey , Elephant man (purveyor of operatic ragga), Tenor Saw, Anthony B, Lexus , the list goes on but basically in the ragga/danchall arena it`s better to go by the "riddim" rather than by artist....ie:They`ll bring out a new riddim and the ragga mafioso(capleton, Beenie man, Bounty Killer, Lady Saw, Elephant man etc.)will each release 7"`s with their own vocals and arrangement of the same riddim... So first find a bad-ass ttune THEN go for your fave artist`s version and you will be satisfied vocally, lyrically AND musically.

a really good dancehall record with an interesting twist is 'the excitement' on germaican records. half JA half german ragga tunes. ragga sounds really good in german. its got a wicked mr vegas tune as well.
actually, i've only borrowed this of a mate so if anyone knows where i good find a copy that would be grand

i can recommend my personal favourites:
dr. alimontado and the son's of thunder: featuring sly dunbar and robbie shakespear on drum and bass..
ijahman: carrying heavy loads in super-spiritual reggae stylee..
black uhuru: to me, they were the best reggae band ever!
