really want to make some for tea on Friday with bean burgers, home made chips, mushy peas.

cant u get it in granulated form like gravy, just add boiling water and stir? or buy some from the chippy and warm it up in a pan.:)

Purely guessing here, but I reckon gravy-granules + curry powder does it.

One of those shops like Londis or Spar sell frozen packets of chip shop curry sauce that's a good match for the stuff you get in chippies.
I liquified some leftover vindaloo in the blender once and that worked a treat.

Depends which type you want - there's the chinese chippy curry sauce, which smooth and deep brown colour and then there's the trad English curry sauce, that is kinda lumpy and slightly sickly/baby poo colour.
I imagine you can get both at most cash and carries in some sort of industrial quantities...
I remember a chinese in Lenton that did the best curry sauce - if you went in toward the beginning of their shift it was a deep red colour and by the time it got to the end it had gone a sort of greeny brown colour - tasted lovely - probably doesn't sound it...

TO be honest i think the chances of you replicating an off the shelf product exactly are nill. Therefore you should kill yourself and save yourself the effort.
