I'm after authentic old skool rave hoovers ala Altern8 "frequency" and Mentasm... I've got a Nord modular, so I recon it's gotta be possible on that...
Does anyone know what synths were originally used for this kind of sound and how recreatable it is?
Cheers dudes...

There's a preset on the Roland Juno 1 called "what the" which was used on a few hoover tracks including Charlie.
MH - Plans for a rave influenced, hoover mash-up???

Try taking three square wave oscillators. Fine tune one up a cent and fine tune another down a cent. Run the input pitch through portamento to get a little hoover glide. And run the output through the chorus. That should sound okay...

Thinking about it the sound I want is probably a sample, straightforward hoovers are easy, it's that kinda voice choir style sound I'm after
