View Full Version : can people live under basement ???

I'm tired with the environment that I cannot play music straight forward in open air.
At the moment, I live in a place where I could play loud music,
but the noise from the outside and my neighbors has been hitting pretty hard on me for the last couple of years.

I just found a great place in Tokyo which is located second floor down basement, B2.
I can also play music as loud as I can, and whenever I want. (singing and drumming included)
It is pretty expensive.
I may have to live there. (I want to, but the law in japan saids I cannot live there.)
Might need to rent a another small apartment just to say I "live" there.
My money says goodbye,
but the music is waving me hello.

Do U think this is a good idea ?
I have no idea how the techno giants are managing their music in the expensive UK,
but I heard Aphex Twin used live in the roof of a supermarket.

Am I going to go nuts if I live underground ?
If there is a country which is a good environment for musicians,
I would definitely like to know.

I've often thought about living underground in a studio but I came to the conclusion that the lack of natural light would probably make me extremely depressed and therefore render me useless in being creative in the studio.

I think the option of renting a studio and living somewhere else like you mentioned would be the best option in my opinion.

I wouldnt live in a 2f basement, i think you'd get pretty ill without any windows or natural and it would prob be kinda damp.

as long as theres plenty of air down there and you don't stay there too long, I dont see a problem. And you can always buy full-spectrum bulbs and "sunlight lamps" to give you what you need.

go for it, its good practise for the apocolypse anyway. :)

M H, have you tried to go out regulary for sun?

I have another part-time-job at the moment, and thought that would be enough for regular outside activities.

I'm a "inside" kind of guy at the moment,
so I'm thinking about checking the place once again.

hmm, are u a "outgoing" kind of guy __?
I would greatly appriciate any advice from the predecessor。

As a place to work.. oh yes! But as a place to live, I think it would drive me insane as well.

went to the "B2" again.
This time I took my speaker and my microphone.
I set the microphone in front of the amp, and twist the volume and gain in the middle,
making a constant feedback so that we can measure whether the building could handle the sounds.
The owner(male, age around his 60-70..) seemed to be shocked at the noise.
"You're gonna kill yourself with the noise." he said.
(No, I won't) said to myself.

The building seems to be handling the sounds pretty well except for the inside where the owner's family lives.
"Is the factory's machines on, daddy ??" said his daughter.

i got rejected.
No no basement for snffio.
I'm starting all over again.
