Clavia is a great company, they are just small (and lack the man power to work on to many projects at once, hence the distancing from the modular OS). Devotion turns quickly into rancor when that which fuels said devotion goes away. The fact people got so emotional over it spells out how good clavia actually is, IMHO.
If you go for anything, try the nord micro modular first. It will give you a decent idea of what the "nord" sound is, and is far cheaper (and more powerful) then most of the other products (subjective, I know).

yeah right, but for 99,9 % you want to have the Nord Modular when you tried his little brother.:!
If you have the money for the Nord buy it...i think you makes nothing wrong with it, even if the editor developement stopped.

Clavia is a great company with a nice way of thinking. I'm a big fan of Nord Modular, and I can tell u this is the most flexible synth I ever owned.
With the 26 000 patches u can found around the web, u can use it as vocoder, filter, drumachine, pad, bass name it, even simulate frog sound cow or girl faking orgasm!!!
Cheers

Count me in.. I sold mine awhile ago, and all my old patches are forever lost in the bowels of my crashed HD, but I just scored a new one off ebay for $700 (rack).
Assuming I don't get riped off, I'll be more then happy to post a few once I get back into the groove of things. Thankfully, I sent at least a good 300 of my old patches to the modular list over the years (well, it's good for me anyhow ;).
Cristian made some pretty dope patches as well. In fact, most of my personal innovations were based loosely on his "fill machine" patch.
