Hey,

Does anybody know of any decent loop slicers for the Mac that allows for markers to be automatically placed on the 8th or 16th notes of the bars?

Wavesurgeon (for the PC) is the only program I'm familiar with. Maybe I should break down and learn how to do it the tranditional way (cutting to beats, and exporting slices with a midi file attached).. but that wouldn't give me the same aural effect as cutting the audio in mathmatical subdivisions of the bar.

Failing that, does anybody know a cost effetive way to transfer samples to pc from a mac (and back) using USB? The mac gives me everything I'd ever want in the domain of audio production, save for this sample slicing ability.

I'd really hate to have to either A) come up with a program in MSP to do this (i'm not really that good yet) or B) do the math and hack it by hand (takes to long).

btw- although I do have a sampler, I use VSTi for playing my drum bits, so no SDS or SMIDI for me (unless you know of a program that will allow SDS or SMIDI transfers between PC and MAC, with no samplers inbetween).

you could consider networking your pc and mac together. it would be simple and cheap, esp if you already have a net interface in your pc.

the simplest way with OS 9 would be to run an ftp server (eg CesarFTP) on your pc and Fetch on the mac. with OS X you could just use smb aka windows networking.

it would probably be easier and cheaper than a laplink type arrangement, and would be useful for other stuff a well.
