i just saw the advert for mylo's (old?) new album, and NME have christened him "the saviour of dance music". some people really should just stick to what they know.

almost forgot, caught the end of the mercury prize the other night, when that anthony and the johnstons dude won, the NME journo twat said something like "i don't think we'll push it on to NME readers just yet, i think it's a little too different."

what a bunch of pricks, they can have mylo.

I have that Antony and the Johnsons song stuck in my head.. 'Hope theres someone'.. I think that song is good.. I heard the rest of the album and I thought it was kinda poo tho.

Grrrr. Shouldn't it be their fucking job to push music that's 'different'? Cuntpipes.

His voice is funny. It's quite effective when you first hear it, but after a while it's kinda grating. He sounds like he's constantly stifling a yawn.

It makes me laugh how impossible it is to tell any of Mylo's tunes apart...oh no, hang on a minute, that actually makes me weep with despair.

Don't get me started on Connor McClueless the NME editor... I know things about him.

Anthony & The Johnsons - yes 'Hope There's Someone' is well and away the best tune on the album, but his music in general is sort of charming in a cliched gay cabaret way... the idea that it's in any way "different" or "weird" is just fucking retarded. However the track he does with CocoRosie on their new album is truly outstanding... "all those beautiful boys / pimps and queens and criminal queers" - you can't but love that!

Mylo is pop dance, but a couple of his tracks are actually worth a second listen - I do like 'In Your Arms', it's got a lot of rave spirit, and the bootleg of 'Drop The Pressure' with Miami Sound Machine 'Dr Beat', which Mylo has done a re-re-edit of as his new single is *really* good (if you like pop). He's also a good DJ - he plays loads of deep glitch whorehouse a la Wighnomy Bros / PJ Pooterhoots etc. I can take or leave most of his own tunes, but he's a good raver with an eye for the main chance and I say fair play to him.

Well I spent a weekend with him last year (I was interviewing him) and he seemed pretty un-prick-like then.

im sure he's alright knid........think its funny.....most people in edinburgh who knew him seem to have disowned him or something

I friend of mine from Skye knows him and my girlfriend met him just as his album was breaking and said he was quite a nice bloke.

I was played his album over two years ago by her and I was so incredibly bored by it - I laughed it off as dull shit and that it would never do well.

Who's the wanker now!

re: antony. the trax people shud try and find are on an old single called "i fell in love with a dead boy"

its the first stuff i heard a few years back and its perfect.
he covers a david lynch/baldalamenti track. its so much more vocally restrained. its possibly the most beautiful song ive ever heard.
just devastating.

i havent enjoyed much of either of his albums .. theyre just too cloying... that wobbly vocal just gets too much after a while...

i dont think the single is avaliable anymore.. but its WELL worth hunting down.

ill have to make it avaliable on soulseek if anyone wants it.

nme is sick and horribly myopic at the moment and has been for a few years. as knid has pointed out, it's all mcnichols' fault

as for mylo, i have to admit i don't mind his music. and anyone who doesn't like that can meet me outside the school gates at 4

i was just surprised at how big it got. It was pretty boring non-descript music, yet it captured the public imagination.

I still haven't got round to listening to any mylo, he's not on the radio that much over here "on the continent" and I'm not downloading at the mo... but I can say he is a nice guy, very clever too, I went to uni with him. Can't say for the tracks though obviously.

Mylo?

Whats the fuss about? Needs acid vibe on his new album..

He's the saviour 2nd rate music festivals but not dance music..
