I will have a go at recording my set - which may be a live one if i can sort my shit out in time. if not then it will be the usual records and mini-discs and stuff. gimme an email if you want me to send u a copy...

having said all this, i usually end up forgetting about this sort of thing, so don't get yr hopes up!

O.k - I'll do my best to remember!

I think photos are usually put up on the uglyfunk message board, so you can check there. it's pretty horrible. 'ugly' is about right.

Recordings of sets on the site is a good idea and one I will talk to Grant about.

Don't know about previous attempts to record Ugly Funk set, but my previous experience of trying to records sets up in Nottingham is that things just go wrong... Which has led me to have a slightly mystical attitude, in that if the set ain't meant to be recorded then it simply isn't going to be recorded... I guess you just had to be there.

Which is kinda hard for people out in the sticks (ahem I mean the US), but like I say my experience is that forces conspire to prevent things from getting recorded, mini-disc jacks get pulled out, mini-disc just don't record, tapes get mangled, CD burners fail, someone accidentally presses the wrong button the levels are shagged... the list goes on... Our minidisc recorder keeps recording things and splitting the recording into 80 odd tracks - I think Sony might have put some crap auto track marking thing on it that typically doesn't work...

I guess I've become somewhat anti-recording based too, everything is recorded these days, and people spend their entire lives having this shit regurgitated to them, and spending money so they can have huge collections of DVDs and CD that they rarely listen to or watch - but still I suppose it impresses the neighbours... (especially if its all held in a nice glass front Ikea display unit...

God knows… I have enough trouble taking the needle off the right record when I’m Djing, so doing a Live/DJ/Mini-Disc set and trying to record it at the same time – no doubt with minimal soundchecking time – is going to be a real test of my powers not to start drinking really early. Usually I have trouble finding the bar by about midnight…

unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, like everything, i won't be doing a live thing now - but i will in the new year. instead i will be playing a selection of music chosen by none other than God himself and also premiering my new ep, which will be out on Ugly Funk in the new year.

i will then be getting totally pissed up and rolling around in the rave-sludge.

i found a crystal distortion live set on soulseek, maybe try looking there. also i know that trakheadz in london once (ages ago) had tapes of him that they were selling. (www.accessallareas.org)

as far as recording past UFs, i managed to record most of my leaving party and plan on convertin most of it to mp3 sometime over the next couple of weeks. it was a mission though and i am shocked that it managed to record decently.

cutout - do u think u could make me that mix u promised to give me before i left? would really like it if u get around to it.
