@ Pille

Was just thinking about some technical considerations (again).

Will the tunes have to be all at the same BPM (eg - agreed upon before), in order to make the process of mixing in a program like ACID more easy

What ya sayin on this one ?

Will O The Wisp
28th November 2002, 13:38
yes, they have to be at the same BPM (+/- 1 BPM)

i think a "normal" sound editor like CollEditPro or Sound Forge will be used to finish the CD. There will be no BMP changes at the end - just to keep the high quality of the recording.

i'm really sorry if this causes hassle/confusement or is annoying to pille'(sorry) but i'm gonna take my name out off the list ....i can't participate as i'm starting work from next week till january ...... i will be working six 12+hour night shifts a week so i'm hardly gonna have time from sleeping and working, even if i had a chance to do it i don't want there to be a chance to fuck up the chain and ruin this brilliant project for everyone..... good luck and look forward to hearing the finished outcome : )

well had to bring back this thread for some reasons of technical difficulties.im sitting here trouble shooting a bad tuner and trying to figure out the best possible sound i can get here and hosently its very difficult.there's a loss of sound going through my shity sound card and ive been switch out fuses for this shity tuner all day and i finally got it to work but damn does this recording sound like shit.i might have to pass it on to someone else considering the loss of sound but i will trouble shoot to the very end!@peace/jp

ok....good idea!i will setup a ftp server today and have a virtual directory for all.i will give user and password to the person one by one.give me 48 hours and will be in buissness.but the essence of packaging and the guestbook will be lost.tomas what do you think?

no way...whoever works on it can just send one of you notes and whatever snippets they want to include that they would've tagged on the mail package. When the cd is completed and in your hands, you can just assemble the collage of goodies that everyone has sent in to you that were inspired by what music they were adding. Then it still keeps that personal touch, but we aren't wasting weeks with the postal service and also running the chance that the whole package COULD be lost somewhere. Much easier to try and redownload a file a few times than search a lost parcel.

Thanks...

pille'ocheoni
16th December 2002, 17:05
ok..............well your right........ill set it up and well see what happens.

@tone_do you guys "you+and scott"want to do the mastering and mixdown on the cd's? if so that will deffinetlt be a plus and be closer to a real cd:)....ng_user will probally volinteer to do the graphics and you got that t-shirt co.so damn this sounds fun!:)

if not i will find other routes to mixdown.we could probally finish this by the end of next week:)heheh/pille_punshk]

thetonewrecker
16th December 2002, 17:10
mastering would be Scott's dept...he's the guru.. I'll check with him to see what available time he's going to have. I think he's got 3 or 4 simultaneous full length projects going right now, but we both are generally too busy for our own good which is fine. I think this project will be slammin'

whoohoo.

Ok, everybody has a fast connection...?

If it'll be MP3 with CDquality (128KBps), so about 1MB for 1min...
About 70MB each CD (mixing&production)...
I'll try to find possibility to download it, but don't promise...

That's just what i think about it.

pille'ocheoni
16th December 2002, 17:34
its cool phono.i will still hold a sequence.i dont want everyone hit my damn server and crashing it so.i will inform people one by one to upload there file.sound good?.........punshk]pille'

phono
16th December 2002, 17:46
Pille, one moment here:
MP3 - isn't a good way to make a real CD.
You can try to make MP3 and compare with original. You'll see the difference...

Don't hurry, please!

We need to analyse all things.. In order to be confident...

pille'ocheoni
16th December 2002, 19:13
yeah totally!:)i wont rush it but i will try to set something up to test something.it dosent have to be mp3.it can be wav.too

Will O The Wisp
16th December 2002, 20:27
let's do it the old shool way - by sending it by post

i'm sick of using "virtual thing", we can use ftp as a backup option but the post should be primary mean of communication

pille'ocheoni
16th December 2002, 20:44
yeah but tonewreker has a good point.like for instance i agree about the post thing and want to follow through with it, but as you know in one of my posts. what if it gets lost on its way to poland?>or moscow?>or where ever.i have trust and we should still do it.but well i dont know i need big brother tomas to give me a second opionion.better yet lets all have a meeting in brighton, england and sit down and spend a weekend in a couple of hotel rooms and setup some turntables ill get my friend for video editing and im sure we can find a sound guy, then well tag records 24 times and see what happens,live!....then will all move over to the studio>somewhere<then will all combine all of our tracks and have a good time doing it>?sound good?...i wish:)

Will O The Wisp
16th December 2002, 21:22
i see your point, but don't you think that we lose "a human tuch" then... what about all the photos and stuff?

phaedrus
16th December 2002, 21:26
I don't get the "getting lost" part. I assume everybody will make a backup copy of his contribution. If it strands somewhere, there's always the person who sent it last that you can refer to, right?

Hosting a .wav file doesn't sound like too good of an idea, since they can get pretty sizy. Maybe for backup purposes, I dunno.

OK, mates!

Don't discuss about it :)
We can make a vote, hope it'll help:

1) send CDs and other things by post
2) use ftp for download (both CDs and photos)
3) use ftp for download CDs and post for sending photos&other things

Pille, what do you think about it? May be make a new thread?

well.....................hers the issue at hand.i dont care..i think that getting a package in the mail is great and under rated..so i think the post thing is great and its allready on the way....but!i will continue to setup the ftp thing just for imfomational purposes and odd's and end's........i will give the user the option to post his/her song the ftp site for everyone to listen and give someone an idea of expansion.they are both good and i plan to have both.for now its working with-in the post and i will still cordinate for all,but when things go south we have a back-up plan and something to fall back on.:)cool...

@pille'

I didn't sign up for either CD in the end as I'm traveling around a lot just now and not always at home. However, I'd love to hear the results.

Any plans to make the ftp available to non-participants?

pille'ocheoni
17th December 2002, 17:03
absoulutely!!!!!..........see this is why i wanted to give the option to the user's that are not particpating to view and listen as the cd progresses.now im sitting here wondering the strick security i need to set-up for this.slowly but shurely i will have this up by the end of the week with the two songs i currently have.i will also have a online sign book.so you can say you where here!hehehe....not much but hey!/punshk]pille'

I have to agree that sending the package just is more appealing to me. Also I do think that everyone that has it in their hands will make a backup. But I also think that the FTP should be set up in conjuction, this way those of us who can, will be able to update it, but not everyone is forced to deal with it.

I'm not worried about the Postage issue, its worth the money to have that package that has gone through a bunch of hands and countries. I think that is what makes this project so cool!

I also think we have spent too much discussing it, and meanwhile the project itself is moving too slow (no offense, I think you are doing a great job John). Lets get cracking guys and girls.

John you are going to have to crack the whip and make some tough decisions, But i have faith in you buddy so lets get this thing moving.

But John do us a favor and post a list of people who are participating, and the order in which it needs to be sent, this way people can get started on contacting the person after them and swaping address info. This should end some confusion, and get the ball rolling.

Long live the Machine!

hey eveybody, seem like it´s getting out of hand again. haha. it´s ok. as long as everybody gets along and no one is fighting =)

well, i think ftp will work fine for the audio production. still. the guestbook is kind of lost the personal touch, thou it´s no BIG problem. we can just make sure that everybody mail pics and drawings or whatever they find personal to have on the homepages and on the art for the cd´s.
still, i like to post it around the globe and get it back some day with all your names sign on it. so we can add it to the homepages.

i´m abit confused thou. whos doing what ?
tomas: began to roll a snowball downhill.
pille: you are the man! ftp, mail´s, list and all that things you do.
tone/scott: are you guys mastering !?!? kewl.
emef: is kind enough to provide space for the music to the internet.
ng_grafika: art work/homepages.

now we just need to have a domain/url for the homepage. does anyone have any tips how to get a good url ?!?!

/tomas

pille'ocheoni
18th December 2002, 16:48
*_well finding a url is fairly easy and on another tip i downloaded this vb bullentin and its really cool to personlize.but i would never dare to challenge no-future,but damn is it easy to configure!.but anyways i will do all that is stated for me and more!your right tomas,i think things are in order but still in beta testing.

*_we will find a format soon and things will flow like honey.!keep in mind guys, this is a project and this project needs time to formulate.but deffinetly not a lazy formulate.assertive, which i think were doing.were making progress and establishing the ground rules which is the hardest thing to make stick.so with this is have faith and im putting all effert nessecary to acomplish this project.with everyones help this will be done!:)

*_with the url thing it will be fairly easy to obtain.and its preety cheap.ill be willing to pay an equal part if there are other contributers:)now the space and dedicated server thing is a issue to discuss.im building a server as we speak and trying to weed out the ftp thing right now.by the way yesterday weishaupt and i were trying to setup a ftp together and ill tell you if you have xp and thought about iis.never use it it sucks, real bad,bad enough that i have to format my server box, which sucks.

*_server software i will also work on,currently this is my major in school so bare with the amatuer but it will also help me with my studies and getting the hands on experence.

*_since emef volinteered the web space thats cool, and very attractive considering the pre-assembled "everything".....so what ever route we travel down im cool with.
