currently,it has started with tsr tomas in sweden and its on its way to me pille' in south carolina, usa.then to sheridan in orlando florida.if you think you in a area of the country that is closest to the last person on the list, than state "hey im near you, send it to me next"...this is so re-routing does not occur and so we can keep a relaitve forward motion on the cd's travels.thanks[p]

I'm in, and I'm in the north of sweden (in luleå right now, but I'm moving to piteå in just a couple of weeks *joy*8-() )

yeh I'm in, shouldn't we perhaps have the cd go through Sweden and Finland first and THEN send it to the US or maybe Germany?
Seems a bit unpratical to have it start real close to me than fly it to god knows where and thereafter have it come back to around here...

well since it looks like im maybe holding the organization part of this i say i will do what ever it takes to keep this thing going till its done.
@weezer_your right its a bit funky.the way its allready going but it's allready in the mail.so what can we do.see we didnt know every one was going to sign up,but your right it should have stayed in europe but ,after it makes its journey around the us and then to gunjack in japan and maybe australia then europe it comes.it should be here the begining of next week.
@marcel_most deffinetly i will keep updates and share the content of the wearabouts every time it leaves the last person.i think we should have a website up for this but i think tomas is working on that,i could start something, but im not that good with the message board stuff.this will do till its up.

hi i'm well up for it but I need a full explanation of how to actually 'mix' on it .....dunno if I have the right equipment just now. the only way i could actually 'mix' would be to : receive the disc in the post > convert it into mp3 > play the mp3 from computer from one of the channels on my mixer then mix into the mp3 from vinyl whilst recording it > burn the whole thing back onto cd and send it> am i being stupid and missed something ? should i just not mix and improvise and put on whatever soundbytes i want ?
i'd really like to be part of this :-p

25th November 2002, 14:33
perhaps stupid question guys...
but how do we handle it with sending the cd around???
- who is the first, who the second etc.
- when there´re to much persons which want to mix, let´s make more than one cd??
pille'ocheoni
25th November 2002, 14:58
maybe i can help.and it looks like we got a bunch of people which is good.and we might have to make this a double cd pack, counting all the people cause there is some twenty people allready.but no worries,we can do this.
@django_with the final product= we'll worry about that i guess when were done.but sending it out to all the people that participated will be easy .i have taken a tally of the people that want to join in and ill take the responsibility of doing this if no one else wants too.
see after it makes it journey all around the world, and comes back to tsr tomas.then we'll start figuring out some ligistics.stefan_who is the graphic guy who will be doing the website and other stuff if he chooses, will also have to see the product and collected memorbila."pictures and stuff"
note:every time you get the cd your way, meaning you were sent the cd to mix into.you need to attach something of inexpensive cost to the package and make sure its something from your city, country, state whatever.something that you can pass on to the next volinteer.something unique'
note:if you have a digital camera.take pictures of the process.cus on the wesite we hope to have backgrounds on the people it went to and there processs's of how they mixed the cd.considering that everybody does it differnt.hahah:)which they will.
its' going to very cool to see everyone and there process's and final product's/oh yeah.note:every time the cd comes your way you need to make sure that you copy the cd immediatelly and make a back up copy.just so if the postoffice loses it, the last person on the chain we always have a copy.cool?ok cool.
if you have any questions that i could help with ask away.i hate to be the one to cordinate but if no one \else objects, ill try my best to make this thing go smoothy.:)thks[j]pille'

I prefer to make any kind of producing.....don´t know what really now. maybee some electronic nonsense crap or any kind of track(s).
Can we make two cds.-one for mixing and one for producing?
As for producing:
The first one who puts his hands on the cd, and who is in producing, make a track. And everyone after him make a remix of the last track by his precending !?
wheezer
25th November 2002, 15:08
I think one CD fits all.
pille'ocheoni
25th November 2002, 15:15
sounds good but lets not get people confused here.i think the whole thing has been incorperated allready.i dont know what tomas did, well i forget, but when it comes to me.im going to remix the last song and mix that into a record:)i dont know thats what i thought.
the only thing about production is time.can everyone pump out a track in less than three days?some maybe ,but most of us cant.but i like the idea.lets ask the chairman.tsr tomas.what do you thin about this tomas?
i say jetson.why dont you start on your track for the production cd and start the cd?if you want ill help if i can with getting it around the world but you can be the cordinator too.start the cd,and send it to some one else and get this thing on a roll.it well be a little confusing but if you help with cordination,we all can do this:)pille'

i think it would be more interesting to mix up selfmade music and mixed in tracks. and two cd's around the globe on the same time would become really confusing.
let us make (because of so much persons)2 cd's with mixedup djstuff and selfmade. and then the first cd is full start the second.
and i think 2cd's are enough for the moment, not more, to make it something special.
hmm, and then it worked well maybe a second round in a year or so.
@eclairfi: yeah, thats right. but maybe do not convert it to mp3 , it would become a worse quality then everyone would do it that way, play it as wave or directly from cd then you don't have 2pc's or so. or use dj-software like ni's traktor(? right name?).
mar'mixup'cel

25th November 2002, 16:54
or why don't you play the cd off a cd player and hook it into your mixer?
thats what I will be doing. if your cd player doesn't have rca outs do you maybe have a discman? use the headphone out and get a converter: mini jack to y rca cable.
Will O The Wisp

Here’s my point of view:
When you receive the CD you have 2 options:
1.I’ve got the last track on vinyl!
So you can use it, just set the tempo (of the master record) to suit the CD and you can record new mix.
2.I don’t have the last track on vinyl
Then use your CD player as a source and mix new record.
About recording:
Keep it as pure .WAV, do not compress it!
I think the “cut&paste” technique will be the best to such a project. You can record your new mix and than easly paste it to the old one (but you have to be very carefull when you do it – check the volume, it has to be on the same level in both files, and you have to precisely set the “cut point”). If you’re not familiar with it then you can save your mix as a new file and burn it (don’t forget about previous mix ; ), so someone more experienced can do it later.

youre right about rec. process will'o,
it's the matter of good cut.in my opinion all you
need/the best thing is wavelab or nuendo by steinberg.
btw.
id like to participate in it, but rather as a producer..
i think you should split the cd material into:
a) CD 1 - vinyl set
b) CD 2 - productions
:)

Ok I think that this thing is starting to get out of hand. I think Pille or thomas needs to clear up the process, and set some guidelines. We have a ton more people than we originally expected, which is great, but it requires that we be much more organized.
I think first of all we need to arrange the travel route for the CD, So if you are in, then just make a post that says where you are. Then Pille can map it out and post a list in order.
Please just post the State and Country that you are in, don't clutter with comments for now.

27 into 80 (minutes) = 2.96 minutes a piece.
maybe we should have two cds (a dj one and a producer one)
so people can pick what cd they would like to be on as to what suites them the best. like I don't have any tracks ready to put on it, so I will stick to the dj cd since I can bang that out no prob. just a thought.

hmmm... Intressting this "producing cd".
why not use the other cd for making a very long track that fills the whole CD? the first one just creats a fucked up beat that runs for a few seconds... then he puts the samples he has used after the track, so the next one can use those samples and continue on the track. Sounds pretty funny or?!
one mix cd and one very big track cd?
I know that tomas already has began the sending of the dj-set cd. but someone else can start the "producing cd"?
does anyone want to take that responsibility? (to start the producing cd).

Okay we make two cds!
The dj-mix cd started around the usa after pille has received it, the production cd at me in germany, and than it goes around europe...usa...or anywhere else.
Maybee its better when everybody have to decide on what cd he/she wants to take part? Everybody can only take part on one cd?
So we have more space on the mix-cd?
Than you can cancel me from the list pille! errrrrrm, sorry....confusion....er.....r ..or....

can everybody agree to send both cd´s along and don´t spread them sepretly, cause i think that will confused lots of people.
is it ok if i make alist and post it, and the people who comes before and after there own name exchanges adresses and they send the demo to each other.
but maybe that will destroy the whole idea about sending it to the closest person =) but still, i still think its funnier to send it around to other countries the whole time...
send critic now lads and gels !
cheers again !

why is this allways getting more complicated .tomas has got it right.i think this idea of re this re that.is BAD!cant you recall the photoshop thread.come on guys.follow the guidlines and just do it.for now i think acomplishing one thing at a time is the best idea!any thing more will just fuck everything to shit!so if you want to do something else than the guidelines than dont participate.like i asked tomas.i think the production thing is great, but the thing we need to worry about is organization.
DONT JUMP FROM POINT A TO POINT Z.
theres some fundamentals of initial deisgn.lets acomplish one thing first, if we dont like it than will make it better LATER.
remeber:we are the very begining so dont freak out and think this is some kind of full production thing.just let it flow like the guidlines and i think it will work.come on guys:)
@ruben_thank you.you idea of seperate threads for who wants to particpate in the mixing/and productiobn is perfect.
so with that if you want tp particapate in the mixing which we have currently started than sign up if you do not want to particapte in the mixing than renig your name and wait till the production project starts.sound good.and excuse my abruptness.remeber dont take offense,im not singling out anyone!peace guys[j]pille'

I'll be away from home during the first 2 weeks of December. Is the CD likely to make it's way to Scotland anytime between the 2nd and the 14th?
I don't know whether I should sign up or not 'coz I might not be at home to do my part of the CD and it would delay things for everyone else. I don't want to mess this up. Someone please advise (@ pille'ocheoni or @tsr_tomas)??????
I will have access to the board while I'm away so I could sign up now and then drop out or get bumped down the list if it looks like I'm not going to be at home when the CD arrives.

recently i saw a 12" in which files were shared between Sutekh, Safety Scissors, Swayzak and someone else who i cant remember. anyway, the idea being that one person start out the track then the next person take their elements and work on the track and then it goes to the next person.
i dont want to get all up in your shit about how to do this but i just think this would be ANOTHER option for a LATER compilation. now we dont necessarily have to do this with files (i dont even own a computer, mind you) but we could do this on a CD/tape sources material basis.
well, just a thought. i hope to be part of the process that has already been put into works and if not, i look forward to at least hearing the final product.

isn't that what subhead does? sharing files back and forth.
there is a new network that allows you to do that very easily.
here is a link to it.

yeah for the dj cd it is bascially 2 records. I am dropping 3 to start with but it will only last for about 6 minitues. I am doing it on 3 tables. sorry it is taking so long to start!! but I was in miami this past weekend to see richard devine and got real sick. and I have been at school this week and trying to finish my final project for school so I can graduate in two weeks. I will have it done this weekend. and be off by monday.
