I Can't be doing with E-bay, I like to see something working before I part with cash, and as for the xl, can you load up MPC 2000 programs and sequences straight into the XL? not sure about that screen neither, looks a bit breakable..

I see your point... it´s always a kind of gamble!? But I think most ebay´ers are loyal...
"The MPC-2000XL adds several new features which include a Next Sequence key, four bank keys, Track Mute key, a hinged LCD, multi-program playback, device naming, MIDI soft thru, multi-track recording, time stretch, resampling, simultaneous playback of a second sequence, and folder file management. The MPC-2000XL Studio Sampler version also adds an 8-out board and SMPTE board, and S/PDIF digital I/O built in. A standard MPC-2000XL can be upgraded to the Studio Sampler using the optional IB-M20T SMPTE board and Multi-8/DM Digital In/Out Board. There is also an MPC-2000XL Studio Plus model, which comes with all the expansion boards found in the Studio Sampler version as well as the EB16 SampleVerb Multi-Effects Processor Board option built-in. Each expansion board is about $250 ($350 for the SampleVerb board). "
Heard it should be worth changing to XL..... but you never know. The display - should work out fine. Though it would be a damn mess if it someday is gone?? "Hey, someone seen a display for my MPC!? kind of need it....!"

very wise, go for the regular. we all have the 1st mpc edition and we're completely satisfied with it. this piece was build for people that just wanna do one thing with that machine: music!
basic, practical, metal cover (definitly cool for livestuff, bump here, bump there), surely not like the cheap-pop-plastic-neonflashy-piece-of-shit-xl

the XL's screen is very nice in comparison to the regular one. However, in an overall comparison, the XL feels very plastic, like it's kind of a matter of time for how long it'll last..

how do the mpc2000's and mpc60's compare? i know you can upgrade the system software of the 60 to the mpc3000 software, but what are the hardware differences? can you expand the 60 as much as the 2000?

I think the MPC 60 was 12 bit sampling...

i'd totally take 12bit over 16bit any day.
