ok, here is the deal !
i´ll make one mix and let the second rec play until it´s end. then i will mail it to pille'ocheoni and he will continue on the rec that i´ve mixed and he will place a mix on it... when he is done he will send the tape to another one on the board. and hopefully people will keep sending it to each other until the tape is full !

ok, let´s just hope that people will write there artist name on tape and send it on the next person.

cheers
tomas

ps. are there intressted people in this little project ?

yeah.... but how do we mix with the last track on the tape?? ehh?

-but let´s do it!
;)

I am down. but I think this needs to be a bit more of a compilation tape as opposed to a "dj mix tape"

pille'ocheoni
18th November 2002, 18:02
thanks for thinking of that and im more than welcome to do it. its just the problem of hearing the record that is on the tape so i know what im listening too.now i could make a copy of that tape and press play and record at the same time and record.................wait a minute this is alot more difficult than i thought because.how will it record an over lay instead of when i press record it just cuts out all of the recording of the previous recording.it will not be mixed at all.

now heres another solution but its all digital.send me a cd,of the first record and the secod record that you mixed in to the previous one,i will dump that into acid 4.0 and set it at one continuous track.than i will take my track and do the appropiate mixing to transition from your last record to my current record and pass it on down the line.

note:the essence of mixing live will be lost but we will be able to acomplish to task at hand.sounds sort of good?

Sheridan
18th November 2002, 18:11
yeah the mixtape thing wont be possible unless we do it on a multitrack. and I am guessing that we all don't have those. why don't we just exchange mixes we have all done? wether on tape or cd. whatever. make a personalised cover and the such. that way we can all share the kind of techno we are into. because I know I dj techno that is very different than most people here and vice versa. does that sound like a better idea? also if you don't dj but want to make a compilation that would be cool too.

oh yeah roche, my cd is the mail for you. you should get it maybe tomorrow.

pille'ocheoni
18th November 2002, 18:20
thanks ian, cant wait......your idea too is a good idea....but what do you think about the idea i placed about doing the mixes digitally?it will also give many people the opportunity to mix there own music and get others around the world to hear there music.well it sounds good to me and i think it will be cool to have down the road.i think it will be cool project for all of to participate in and to be able to network a little better.down the road we could have a complation called"no-future complation"containing all of our mixes and songs............gunjack could markey it and we all could be millonares:)yehaw....hahahahah ahahahahahha

jerm
18th November 2002, 18:25
I think both are a good idea seeing as how everyone probably doesnt have the same technology. i'd not only love to participate, but I'd also love to hear what everyone else likes to play

here, here! A good idea!

pille'ocheoni
18th November 2002, 18:40
hey jerm you should get jeff to give you that pioneer that he has and never uses.then make all of us some awsome mixes.we could do a tag team set and send it to everyone on the board.what would we spin?

jerm
18th November 2002, 18:44
hmmmmmmmmmm
we could break out with some older stuff or go a lil more intelligent.
i've got some stuff that i havent really shared.
what do you think?

I have either that pioneer or one just like it here already.

jerm

nah, be creative with using your equipment.
route your tapedeck to your dj-mixer and you can mix tape and vinyl and record it to pc or another tapedeck. this could be possible, but after all the quality won't be good, recorded a thousand times..
nevertheless a good idea with the tape

piscaries
18th November 2002, 22:18
i think the biggest drawback of the multiple person mix tape is sound degredation. it is possible to continue the mix, but by the time the last person gets it, it will be what.. a 26th generation recording? talk about piss poor sound quality. why don't we just hold a no-future convention and set up 20 tables and have 10 people all mixing simultaneously? we'll create a new genre: cacophonic bass. okay, bad idea. really bad idea.

Tomoki
18th November 2002, 22:34
you mean something like that?

http://www.housemuzak.com/housemuziq/pictures/stage2.jpg

pille'ocheoni
18th November 2002, 22:58
hey piscaries ,thats a great idea..........ive been thinking myself that we all should have a convention of some kind.only no-future board members are welcome.hahahah.....that would be so cool.only problem is were are we all going to meet and we would have to do it like a year in advance,so we all could plan, and cristian could pay for it,all of our plane tickets and hotels.hahahahah.lets hold it in iceland or something.or jakarta.hahahah

tape thing:marcel your right that is a good point let the user do what ever the hell they want to do with.but every time the person would have to remaster the recording or atleast clean it up as much as possible.thomas im down you start it and send it to me.ok?

piscaries
19th November 2002, 00:52
@tomoki

damn. those guys got some balls. how could that sound good? especially with house music. not that house is bad, it's just that it's busy music. i could see a slim chance of it sounding good with minimal techno, but you gotta have 5 dj's that are rock-solid human metronomes. one slip here, one slip there and all that beat-matching goes to shit.

start that mix tape! i'll be glad to paste more onto the end. ooooh... that gives me an idea. lets just splice the whole tape together! that would be tottaly bizarre. we could make our own loops and whatnot. maybe a bit too experimental though.

Weishaupt
19th November 2002, 05:42
fantastic idea.............

tsr_tomas
19th November 2002, 15:49
i see that there alot of idea´s of how it should be put together... soo why don´t i make the mix and burn it on a cd-r and send to pille and he can do what ever he wants with it to make it continue with out interruptions.
then the next person just have be as creative as the next one and try to figure out how he/she wants to continue on the mixes =)

it should be two records or tracks each. one for mixin´out the person before and then make second mix.

i´ll start tonight after work when i get home...

piscaries
19th November 2002, 16:58
i'm down with that: a free for all kind of deal. if we can keep it all in the digital domain i think that would be ideal for all involved for this kind of a project.

pille'ocheoni
19th November 2002, 17:25
sounds great thomas.ill pm my address and will get started.since your in sweden and im in south carolina, shipping might be expensive but maybe not.:)cant wait.

Sheridan
19th November 2002, 17:30
no posting cdrs are pretty cheap. I mailed 4 cds recently. one to you roche, one to invisibleplanet (UK), one to gunjack (japan), and one to sam horam from the OL board (UK). the total for all of them was $16. that included buying something to put the cd into and postage. from the states to japan was like $3.50.

tsr_tomas
19th November 2002, 17:38
@pille'ocheoni:
no probs with the money, it will be worth it...
it´s more fun to send the cd around the world acouple of times and see whats happen =)

can´t wait to get home now, i´m off in 20min, wiiii !

nailed right on the head.something cheap and doesnt take too much time to organize.i have no idea what stockholm looks like .except from the travel channels perspective which is weak.so maybe a picture.hey maybe too, with each person they should attach something from there city or country.cool idea whatcha think?

Sheridan
19th November 2002, 17:55
or how about one of your swedish ladies?

oh yeah I want to play on the cd too. I think I can find some wonky stuff to play.

i think that we should just send each other mix tapes and then possibly pass them on to others on the board to enjoy.

another idea would be to put about 5min. worth of sound collage, send it to another person on the board, they add their part and continue sending it on down the line. but, what if the tape snaps? make a copy of the original (or wherever you are in the chain) so that, if say the tape does snap or gets jammed, you have a backup.

i look forward to hearing anyone's opinions on this subject.
peace out ya'll

ps. Left hand Lou and Sheridan...i'd like to hear some mixes and/or comps. from you guys.

pille'ocheoni
20th November 2002, 03:51
7585,good idea id love to just configure noise or melodies and pass it down the road.im going to wait for thomas,i sent him my address and hopefully soon ill see some packaging.i have the tracks picked out,and the mixtape im going to send to many on the board.i found a awsome techno glitch tape i made about a year ago and totally forgot about it.so im ready and cant wait:)

pille'ocheoni
20th November 2002, 03:53
how about i send it to sheridan, sice hes just a couple of states south.then to chicago then to you in p-town,then to lefthand in la,then to gunjack, then over to europe .how does that sound.or should we just do it freefor all.?

whoever ends up with the final mix has to rip it to mp3 and post it up fot us contributors to hear. i just love the way those whole idea has evolved.

yo lou, no I haven't even heard about the mix. I knew that I phantom had droped, but not the mix. haven't heard either. I totally would dig hearing it. have heard mr lif live at the middle east. pretty cool stuff. maybe we could trade?

@gunjack. thanks man, I figured you would dig it. hopefully I will have more soon. I am planning on trying my hand at a three turntable mix this week or so. it all depends on if my neighbor will be cool with me playing a bit more or if he has a lunatic episode like usual. need to do some more practicing, even though I have a feeling it will be kind of sloppy anyway. fun to try anyway.

This sounds a wicked idea but ... sorry to be slow...

How exactly is the logisitcs gonna work...

Does each person have to do their mix in Acid then pass it onto the next person...?

Or could everyone to contirbute 1 track each, then draw lots at random to see whats tracks get put in what order..then draw a second round of lots to see who does the mix...?

piscaries
20th November 2002, 14:17
@owain_k

the way i see it, it's kind of turned into a free for all. it's sounds like tomas is just gonna start it off. maybe with rekkids, maybe with his own stuff? whatever. then he's gonna send that to pille' who'll in turn take that medium and add onto it however he see's fit. he could use acid/logic/cubase/fruityloops/little sound dj/his own rekkids or just hum his favorite bedtime lullaby over the end of what tomas did and keep dooin that for like 5/10 min. then pille' sends it to who's next and they keep the chain going however they see fit.

ONE MAJOR RULE (i have decided.. damnit!)
make it easy for the next person to use your material! use a CD as a transfer medium if possible because tape will just degrade in sound quality sooo quickly, and not everyone uses the same software so there may be incompatabilities with that. if you're not sure, then talk to the person you're gonna be sending it to and work out the best way of getting the mix from one person to the next. don't slag off!

hopefully in the end christian will post an mp3 of the final product for all the no-future kiddies to share.

hi guys !

i´ve made some wonky shit now !...
it´s a intro on 26sec and a track. it´s only 2min lond so far.
my first edit was 5min, but then i saw what you guys have been writing and made it smaller.

i´ve bought a guestbook, that everybody can keep signing as it come along with the mail... when it´s done i can scan the book and publish it on internet.
and first page i put a tracklist to.

@pille: yeah, i bought a little candybox for you, hihi.
and pille, i´ve put the cd in the mail today!

thomas your such a sweety:)thanks.ill return the favor.is there aything that you desire from the us, that you cant get in sweden?if so tell me or ill just get something cool.cant wait for your package.thanks agian[pille']

mix_it sounds great and with the right communication we can do this right.everyhting you said piscaries and marcel are true and deserve some thought.i deffinetly am not going to be a hog and take more time than needed,3-5 mintues is cool with me.but if we fill up the cd than the person that used the last bit of the cd has to start a new one and send that one with the last to the next person.multiple cd's arnt bad it will be more music to listen to down the road.than we can market a double cd,heheheh.cool.cool.

LEFTHANDLOU
20th November 2002, 17:52
The Group mix sounds good and all, but I have a feeling it is going to end up being a pain to do. Plus 3-5 min is pretty short considering the pain of sending the thing back and forth. I'm down to try but, I foresee some issues.

If we send each other mixes, we can play as long as we want, and put it on any medium we want, CD, tape or MD, and it does not have to be forwarded to the next person. So we won't have anyone sitting on it, while they wait to get the time to add to it, or the money/ effort to take it to the post office.

Still I'm down to give it a try if you guys want.

@ Sheridan. Yeah that mix/ album sampler is pretty cool, send me your Address and i will burn it for you. Drop me a line at anavid@ureach.com

hey ian i was thinking of sending tomas a piggly wiggly t-shirt the pink one.hahahahahahahha

Sheridan
20th November 2002, 20:37
oh shit not the piggly wiggly. see we don't have those in the dc area, and I only knew about them via movies and the such. so I always thought they were just a joke and did not exist. imagine my surprise and shock the first time I saw one in real life (might have been in georgia, can't remember).
the whole time I thought I was in the movie 'driving miss daisy'.

Sheridan
20th November 2002, 22:07
yeah we kind of need a 'foreman' or manager of this whole deal if it is going to go off smoothly. I guess whoever has the project will post here that they have received it and what they are planning on doing with it. when they are done they should post back saying they have finished who they are passing it to. in the name of privacy address should be pmed between each other. so if owain was to send it to me I would pm him my address. here is who is on board so far:

yeah actually it would be best to send it to me third since I am moving in 4 weeks. just make sure I have some kind of steady beat since I will mixing some techno into it. I have heard some of your tracks roche and I must say I'd rather not try and beat match to some of it. :!

marcel
21st November 2002, 23:16
@sheridan put me on the list

shouldn't we do it from continent to continent? america then good ol europe (or first europe whatever), and then to someone from asia or downunder? btw we don't have even one user from africa, ahve we? its a shame

at pille. i´d like to host the whole thing, but it´s not much to host... the real hosting starts when the final cd i done and i get it back... i´ve talk with a friend of mine. he like to some gfx and maybe alittle homepage for the whole project.
and will try to talk with diffrent label´s about the cd (tips and suggestions are more then welcome).

i´ve got the space where i can publish the whole cd if thats what you want guys and put all the signings from the guestbook on internet to... cause i think there are others that like to see whats in the guestbook =)

at sheridan: yes, it should be privacy with the adress. plz send pm´s to the person you are going to send the demo on to, don´t publish adress !

at owain_k: it should be a duty to say on the board when you resived the demo and when you are finnished... it should be good, cause if we don´t keep track of who´s got it. it can coz worries.

at everybody: should there be a homepage for the demo project ?
i think it should be a good idea, coz that will presure people to finnishing the demo and continue sending it, i think =)

come with tips guys ! we are all in on it !

cheers

@sheridan_brotha you'll have a faith in me soon enough.i woundnt do that kind of shit to you.i ahve more courtisy than that.trust me im not one of those that just throws some shit in there with out any thought.it will follow the format givin to me by tomas.my 7 years of tag teaming certainly has taught me restraint, and timing.dont worry.i make it real good.hehehe[piile']

22nd November 2002, 13:27
no I was thinking if people here have webspace to put it up, cristian and emma could just make a sticky or something that has the link to the projects own website. like: www.cdproject.com or something. that way we aren't using up anymore of their webspace with something that really doesn't have anything to do with no-future or super collider. but new visitors will be able to see what the members here have done.

right.:)art for the sake of art.i always used to hate that freakin saying but its true.i miss painting ive been doing digital art for some months now.i stopped painting cus i was ripping out my hair after buying the basquiat book and spending 12 hour days fucking throwing paint at the canvas.nothing worth while to me,but i got real good at streching canvas.now i stick with water color on canvas and use my handy dandy scanner to dump into adobe.then flash.i have to get good with this action scripting.

@cmarakasu: eveybody can be in on the Mixcd....
hmm. that reminds me, there might be good to know how many are intressted and that i should to write it down somewhere.

@lefthandu: i think its up to sheridan to choose who he like to send it to... lets just hope there will not be to many from the state at once... there should be people from germany and japan and alla the other nice placeses in the world on the cd =)

well certainltly.
@tomas i think your idea of taking names is a good idea.we should run a pole or sign up sheet,on a nother thread called -sign up sheet for mixcd.ideas?cause when it get's down to it,and we start sending to gunny in japan then someone says hey can i play and there in manitoba, canada.then theres an loss of time and re-routing.just an idea.whatcha think?
