I am sure dave has his lackeys scouring the internet looking for poor language concerning him since the broohaha that went down on the overload board.
shouldn't he be more concerned with like I don't know making records that aren't shite? how do you go from the red series to the lackluster stuff he has put out recently? hold on there is a knock at my door.....I think I am about to be shut dow.............

I really don't have to say to much about this, my feelings were made clear a long time ago after personal attacks on myself and others in forms of "fit-ups" on other forums. A lot of in the background injunction type activity has occured and I don't wish to say any more as I wouldn't be suprised if Christian hasn't already had wind of this from other forum owners, I hope not though as the situation and details that transpired suck big time!!!

Indeed it was laughably infantile, petty and petulant. It was even more bemusing. I don't know about the goings-on from the Blue version of this board, but I can imagine the same amount of underhandness was employed by our beloved Redonist

never met him, not the hugest fan of his production over the past few, but slag all you want.....i've seen him dj and I'm sorry, but he's one of the most insanely talented deck-nitions I've ever witnessed. I've never seen anyone work a mixer harder than him and I've seen him six times now. Respect to anyone who chooses to use the turntable as a tool to actually make something different, instead of just playing a record - any schmuck can do that. ...But I realize this site is more production-centric than anything. Dj G Force is another example of this - audio tricks under his sleeve I've never even dreamed of, but hasn't really put out anything great production wise in a while...same old production tricks all the time.
Any of you ever seen Dj Traxx from Chicago? Fuckin' mental....most creative programming + deck skills on this side of the world easily. Not sure exactly what he's doing joining with International Dj Gigolos as his sound is rather different, but hey....
just my two cents.

actually I concur with @m (where ya been man??). dave clarke is actually a pretty interesting dj. a little sloppy, but in a way that I like. and to this day probably my most favorite dj mix cd is dave clarke x-mix electro boogie #1.
that cd is sick sick sick!

I don't think it was his DJing that was in question, his attitude in general towards people (especially on the internet).

Equally any schmuck can flick the crossfader from side to side like this , BANG BANG BANG BANG and then let the other tune go , which is his bread and butter mix... also maybe the fact that he's wearing fingerless driving gloves helps with the 'fader flix
i find that sometimes his negative and confrontational personal energy transmogrifies itself into the mood of the audience, making for a pretty moody crowd , like a bad D'n'B crowd...

the best schmucks are the kind who play records that make people go crazy. no amount of knob fiddling and egotistic deckwankery can substitute for a schmuck playing great records in the right order.

p.s. I think he is a mindblowing DJ too. I have never seen anyone, apart maybe from Coldcut/DJ Food cut across so many styles of electro-funk yet sound so coherent.

@Sheridan: Oi, mate - I've been stuck in the basement in a leather suit with a ball gag in me mouth for some time....have only now figured out how to cross the fisher-price telephone with a speak and spell to regain my internet connection! All that with my hands in plastic mittens behind my bum! (translation: busy as a mofo with a broken 'puter and a needy girlfriend!)
....
but the schmuck in question has to: 1. own said record
2. choose the correct time to play said record
MANY more things go into the djing equation than that though. Guarenteed that LOTS of dj will own a certain record that makes the crowds shimmy shake, and timing is but one approach....(which can change with the crowd, event location, equipment variables/opportunities and whatever record you choose to mix into it at that time!...I'm sure there are even more variables I'm not even
addressing)
.......

As for this part of it....I dissagree - that's really a producers standpoint isn't it? A producer would say that "My track was made as a unique expression of me and is therefore meant to only be played on it's own". Lots of dj's choose to use turntables as 'record players' and just play other peoples material, noting the 'correct' points to mix in and out of (trance music would be a great example of this - I'M NOT PICKING ON ANYONE, just stating the really obvious example). I'd hope that most would approach the decks in that unless you're playing you're own material, you'd want to layer, cut, pull bits out of someone elses material in a way that truly expresses you. This is done through the manipulation of the mixer and turntables plus whatever else you choose to attach to that equation. Listen to your favourite djs - they all have different approaches to those tools that makes them sound differnent than anyone else. That's why if you give two djs the exact same set of records, you'd end up with two totally different sets - it's not only the tracks you choose to play.
......blah, blah, blah....i think i've managed to skirt this whole thread a tad off the original purpose.

he high point of the career must have been that great remix of kremkraft 3000... sheer brilliance.. oh yeah..
i heard a story once that richie hawtin threw it off the decks into the crowd.. cause dave played it before him to piss him off
but i suggest we do close down this topic cause we seem all to know what he is anyways

@mux
the way I heard it he played it twice in a row becoz he knew hawtin didn't like it... to be honest, I think his kernkraft rmx is shit compared to the original...but then that wasn't original either, so I guess we all lose lol
