Hey people - wondered if you could help me out with this one -

"Aint no body crying - I'll take you there
Aint no body worry - I'll take you there
Aint no smiling faces - I'll take you there
(?Take me to the races?)"

I'm not sure about the last line - hence the brackets. This song has been racking my brain since I saw/heard it on a recent Gap advert with Marianne Faithfull and some girl (who I'd really love to know who she is!) singing it.

If any one of y'all in here can help me out with -
1=Who is the song by
2=Who's that girlie with Marianne in the advert

I'll be a very happy bunny!

Much love and flying doves,
D_G ;ox

a quick search on msn using the search criteria "Ain't nobody crying" brought up this as 2nd hit:

General Public - I'll take u there (http://www.poplyrics.net/waiguo/soundtrack/Classics/36.htm) - Be CAREFUL!!! going to this page brings up a GATOR window, which is known as "sypware" - don't accept it!!!

another search using the criteria: "General Public"+"I'll take you there"+lyrics gave me this as the 5th hit: LyricsCafe.:.Soundtrack Lyrics.:.General Public - I'll take you there (http://www.dreaming.org/~digital/arc/94.html) BE CAREFUL - u are asked if u want to install 'the ultimate browser' if u go to their homepage!!! (obviously, don't!!!)

and no. 10 of that same search showed: US Top Singles for 1994 (http://www.dreaming.org/~digital/arc/94.html) - so we know it was in the us top 100 in 1994

a search for "General Public"+"I'll take you there"+Soundtrack, yielded in 3rd Place:
General Public/I'll Take You There (http://www.gracenote.com/xm/cd/misc/8dbf876eb8b69984ba269463498dfa 0d.html) showing the cd info....

and also in 5th Place:REVIEW (http://www.westnet.com/consumable/1994/05.01/revthree.html) where u can find a review of the movie it came from, and find it confirmed that it is a remake of the original Staples classic.

a search for "Staples"+"I'll take you there" yields in 1st Place: The Staples Singers Page (http://www.westnet.com/consumable/1994/05.01/revthree.html)

:) I didn't know any data about this song before i searched on the web, but i found I had a tune to attach to those words, even though I had not heard the GAP advert you mention!

I hope that was of some use to u :D

I heard this from a big Marianne fan out of my sphere:

“The song is called 'I'll Take You There' originally recorded by The Staple Singers on Stax Records.
I believe the young girl singer who appears in the GAP advert with Marianne is named ''Tweet''”.

I hope his helps you out;-))

Oh my goodness - thank you for your help!

Invisible - that was reall, really cool of you do do that - I appreciate it - thanx!

Tomoki - and to you too - thank you very much for that. I'm a bit confused about the Tweet thing though - I know of a singer called Tweet, who has a hit with my girl Missy not so long ago - that doesnt seem to be the same chick - unless she also happens to be called Tweet, of course....!

Much love to you -
D_G :O)

Hey Daddys Girl: I surfed around the net and found some newer informations. The girl who appears with Marianne in the GAP advert (if you are talking about the one on UK TV, i.e. young girl with long, straight hair) is not Tweet but an actress called Taryn Manning. Taryn recently starred in Crossroads with Britney Spears & will be in the upcoming Eminem film '8mile'. According to GAP there is another advert featuring all three women i.e with Tweet as well.

you're welcome D G

these searches are called 'boolean' searches.
put everything u want to know inside " " , expecially whole phrases
then if u want an additional criteria like song, or lyric, or even jpg (for a picture) then add that with a + after your phrase. (the examples above should help u locate most everything this way!)
