So there was another one of those crappy Top100 shows on C4 last night (they must be really fucked for ideas). Didn't watch it all, but we (me and my housemates) kept switching over in the advert breaks in Point Break and caught the Top 11 at the end...

So it seems that OK Computer by Radiohead is the bestest, best album of all time. Dunno how it was done, voted for by poll I guess. I seem to be spend a lot of time shouting at the screen when things like Oasis Definitely Maybe was placed higher than Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club band...

Did anyone else watch this, what do you think - best album of all time. Most of the celebrities seemed a bit non-plused, like oh, oh well it's a good album suppose... not sure if it's the best...

i think they have a shortlist of 200 on their website and then the general pubic pick their 5 or 10 favourite, or something like that. so the people choosing are self seleted - meaning it's really a poll of the musical tastes of the kind of people who could be bothered enough to dig around the channel 4 website looking for polls to answer.

Surely it should be obvious that the concept of an objectively best album ever is meaningless.

Hulk Hogans album is the best album of all time, Radiohead stole most of their ideas from the Hulkster anyhow

No I expect that everyone should take their voting duties very seriously and research all the possible choices before making an informed decision about what they consider the best album of all time - you'd think as we live in a democracy that people would naturally do this, wouldn't you?

personally i don't think ok computer is the greatest album of all time. that would be fear of a black planet if i had anything to do with it

however, i do think it's a fantastic record and i'm proud that a record from our generation has made the top spot. if you look at all the other albums in the top 10, and those records that have been voted greatest ever in other polls, i believe it's as deserving of the number one accolade as, say, dark side of the moon or the white album

of course, last time c4 did something like this, didn't the stone roses come out trumps? load of knackers

I believe some UK rock mag recently voted Guns 'n' Roses - November Rain the best rock song of all time, are we going to have these sorts of discussions often?

Thriller, Dark side of the moon, Nevermind, Revolver, Ok Computer are worthy of a top ten, but not in the order that they where.

The Josua Tree can fuck right off, as can Definatly Maybe

it's a great album, but I'm one of the few people who preferred Kid A. Although my favourite Radiohead album is now Hail to the Thief.

Anyway, I think trying to vote something "best album of all time" is a bit pointless. Voting something "favourite album of all time (of the people who voted)" is a lot more realistic.

i was gonna say - No way but then realised i've never heard it anyway... bought to mind an alan partridge quote, when trying to pretend he was a beatles fan he was asked the name of his favourite beatles album... he paused thoughtfully and said "i'd have to say.... the best of the beatles"

Well its good to see that the masses, instead of voting for what the assume to be the best album, have voted for the best thing in recent memory. Wait a min?Is that worse...
