...mhm...please explain "cool sounds and effects"
for me i like vintage stuff... cheap also...like tg77, wavestation A/D (great synth for verylongselfmodulatingatmos/pads/effects)
or use a sampler like the eps16+ as a synthmodule (with sampled waves) and u will get veryweirdsoundingshit out of it...because of its transwave-feature...i don´t know if the asr will do it like this, ´cause i never had one...
well, waldorfsynths are great...i miss my microwave 1...wuhuhuu...
btw. nothing close to nordmodular !!!... :)

Youre right, nord modular is very great, but out of my finacial possibility!!
The walfdorf sounds good, with 25band vocoder, but i havent tested.
The novation A-Station sounds also good, but only 8 voices and a 12band vocoder...

i played with an a station at a store once and the build just felt really crappy. maybe it was just the particular one i was playing with, but the mod/pitch bend wheels rubbed up against the casing at the top and bottom of their rotations, and the case (at least the top part as far as i remember) was kind of cheap plastic. the micro-q is pretty cool. waldorf stuff always sounds top-knotch. maybe look at a nord micro-modular? i know compared to everything else you're looking at, the polyphony and multitimbrality suck, but the thing is amazing. nothing you can't do with it. effects processor, vocoder, killer synth, and it just sounds so nice. or just get a sampler and a bunch of junk synths to dessicrate. it's all in how you use it.

oops. i was commenting on the k-station, and not the a-station. well, regardless i didn't like it's sounds. but that's just me.. play with it and judge for yourself. your ears count most in deciding your own setup.
