i´m curious what new cd´s you bought this month?
my budget allowed only 3...
the new amon tobin album:
he has reached a certain quality with supermodified but the new doesn´t really top the old one. but its still good.

biosphere - shenzou:
dark and with orchestral samples. much less beats than the old one. really nice if you´re into spheric stuff.

monolake - cinemascope: ok this one is from 2001 but i liked it a lil bit more than telefon tel aviv which only had a 41min playtime so mr. henke made the game.

pille´o recommended daedolius or so but i couldn´t find that one...
i also listened to the new dj vadim but only the yahra bravo tracks where cool for me but the beats are dope as usual. does anyone know more of her?

the records store i work at is sort of a folk, jazz, worldbeat shop.....but me and the owner are changing some things around, there's a growing scence of downtempo here and right now were contouring to experimental, and abstract_music in general.things are moving slowly but that's how we like it.here's the link horizon records (http://64.227.131.41/cgi-bin/WebShop.cgi) our data base is small but were working on it.......
:really gents and fems......you should check out this guy
[cody chesnutt] /serve this royalty/ hefty records.....
fucking great probally the best track ive herd in a long time.if you love soul, and feel the essence of detroit...you have to pick this up....i listen to alot of shit, and theres only a couple of things a year that makes me have to hear it back to back to back etc..........

hey gunjack, what kind of work do you do?

20th October 2002, 23:49
hmmm. cd's. haven't been buying much of those as of late. i think the most recent thing i got was the Scion reworking Basic Channel on Tresor.
this buying music thing is truly a disease of the mind. it gets to the point where its almost impossible to stop buying records/cds/tapes. sometimes i feel that if i go a few days without buying a record that im surely missing that one great cut.

i need to curtail this but just dont know how. even being without money i still manage to find a way to get those records.
help!!!

good point ,me too.....eventhough all the restless night's of desiring a rec.....i too find myself getting the record anyways,i think it has to do with some obseive cumpulisive thing.but i enjoy it to a degree.ive tried to put myself in a better position to get what i want ,so that it doesnt hurt me,like in the past of spending too much money and not having the cash to pay my rent.nowadays,i find it a ritual that keeps my peace of mind.

I teach English in Chiba/Tokyo 4 days a week (that feeds and houses my wife and I). The rest of the time I run my label (deafmosaic) My (USA) agent is located in Detroit (that's where occaisional US gigs come from) and also, the sister label to deafmosaic (TCR) is based in Detroit. buying records is really an addiction. i spend every month about 200euros for vinyls. i don´t buy listening stuff on vinyl cause i hate to turn a record while i´m stoned on my bed. so 3 cd´s each month is limit.
earning money as a small unknown dj is almost impossible nowadays.

btw i work for a picturearchive. scanning dia slides and removing scratches and adjusting color and brightness. boooring. but i usually work 3-4 days a week.

nice job i think! good money?

deccard
21st October 2002, 11:49
the money is ok or i wouldn´t do it. my bosses are totaly whack!
internet not allowed. private phonecalls not allowed. mobile phones not allowed. private talk between employees not allowed or should be reduced to a minimum like hi and bye. if your shit stinks than somebody gonna tell you you better wait and shit at home! open bottles are not allowed to be placed on the tables (cups and glasses yes).
sometimes they just explode because of the stupidst stuff. but i can listen too the whackest music and nobody cares...
anyway rules are ment to be broken :D
(it was funny to listen to internetradio with their stupid dial in connection)...

I think I posted this somewhere already; I'm working part-time as a sysadmin for a German SAP consulting company (getting that job was pretty easy, they were looking for somebody that has sysadmin experience, speaks English, Finnish & German fluently... those kinda people don't grow on trees hehe), otherwise studying, and I do some web consulting for companies on the side if they let me...

last couple of weeks have been pretty on low on sleep, but I sure managed to buy a lot of vinyl this month lol

@pille: no we don´t have pix from the turn of the century...
my skills working with colors really developed through the job. that´s very cool cause i used to draw only with pencil or charcoal and hated the use of color.

btw here is my scanner...
for the price of that machine you could buy an appartment

it looks like a tube of some kind, thats strange, your so fortunate to even get your hands on that kind of equipment:) ,i thought you might be working in some kind of a warehouse machines with old style mill construction, rusted equipment the size of a house, like the movie "dancer in dark" and low golden lighting.damn i need to find a place like that to take a couple of hundred pictures.:!

deccard
21st October 2002, 14:28
@pille: the older heidelberg scanners had the size of a room. the newest scanners have the normal look of the tablescanners cause the technique inside got better.
the drum technique was a necessarity some years ago.
but the quality of our scanner is always amazing.
you could zoom into a picture of an animal and see the shadow of the photographer in the animals eye.

anyway wanna have my job? i take yours! :D

he had no reason said he was moving to florida and had it all on cd...............thats the beauty of working at a jazz record store ,essecially in the south.i really have to thank gene my boss for giving this opportunity to me,with out him id have no access, and be like the rest of the pack, diggin, and diving for scraps.it doesnt happen often, but this kind of job is what ive been working for my whole life, seeing the record store owners getting first pick, now i get first pick and get to talk to the distributer, and record labels, handle all the promos, posters, have full design control in the store and bassiclly run the dance department.so its not luck its hard work and dedication....and it does pay off if you work for ten years or so......see it doesnt pay well so ,im probbally not like all you b&w driven rich guys,i make ends meet and thats it,i spend all my money i mean all my money on music, music making gear,or going to the movie's,thats it.

i think his name is"theres no documentation but chaos words i have to look closely but this is the most obvious name and repeated name.tadd mullinix, its on ghostly international according to my previous knowledge of the label logo, but its a weird piece,no distribution, not print #NOTHING.BUT DAMN ITS GOOD.but it does say #34 out of 150....so you guys probally wont find it but i might put a mp3 on the board so everyone can hear this because its worth hearing.really worth hearing!
