Wasnt it all just clever guesswork and suggestion? I missed the end so dont know how well she did in that formal test she was set?

I was quite disappointed by the documentary to be honest and by CSICOP – they seemed quite heartless. They kept going on about how thorough they are, but at the end of the day they just wanted to prove that this girl wasn’t psychic – once that happened they weren’t bothered about the other two possibilities that they’d come up with.

The first one was that she was just lying or cheating, the second one was that this was a psychological effect. Clearly the second one is the correct answer, because there was no way she was lying or cheating.

But there was absolutely no investigation into this. They never found out how much medical knowledge she has – I suspect it might be quite considerable – she’s clearly very keen on becoming a Doctor and she clearly believes that she can see people’s organs and bones. I suspect that she’s probably read some family medical journals, may have a photographic or near photographic memory – which allows her, with a discussion with the patient to analyse a vast ream of data and come to a reasonably accurate diagnosis – this may manifest itself visually within her head.

Doctor’s train for years to achieve this, the fact that a 17 year old girl can do it is a phenomenon, it may not be psychic, but it’s still quite a feat.

CSICOP are a bunch of assholes.

I didn't seen any problems at all with the testers methodology. Yeah okay it was maybe a bit much for the girl being in a different country, not speaking the language and stuff but still yuo ahve to submit to a scientific process as otherwise it's just rubbish. I think the best thing the program showed was that when in the formal test she took an hour and a half to make her first diagnosis, when she was taking like ten minuets under her own conditions which I think goes a long way to proving that her abilities weren't really all that magical.

The results of the first test were I think very clear as well. People describe whats wrong with them and then she suggested other problems which people agreed with, she only got something like 2 or 3 cases actully right though almost all the subjects agreed with what she said, which definately pours some concrete on the she is subliminanly influencing them.

I love cold reading. great stuff. Met a hippy bird that thought she was psychic - she honestly did - but in reality it was just her impression from talking to you. Most people keep their impressions to themselves but she felt like she had some divine insight.

X-ray girl was interesting but clearly a fraud as she missed a dirty big metal plate inside one of the patents.
