you're half right: beenie man can't sing on the feel it boy track and janets' melody is too cheesy... but the instrumentals are as siempre so good!
but, ok, the timberlake one is crap...

but just for instrumental eh emma? :)
so they did that last nelly single? totally amazing stuff
but the beenie man/janet track is just there to show off her faboulous new boob job.... amazing stuff ( the tits i mean )
timbaland really needs to start working...again
never heard of him after aliyah died
actually i thought that the 'baby micheal' justin timberlake single has some shit ass production on it.. groovey hit to be wasted on him
heard they were part of the MJ album but he didnt show up for a planned meeting and they refused to work with him afterwards
know the funny thing is? there last nerd single kinda sucked

hey emma, we're friends...I love this britney one as well...
and the hustler one on the nellys is da bomb, the part when pharrell doubles nelly is the best on the whole album!
this last nerd single you mentioned mux isn't the best track they did, listen to the whole album... its one of my favorite album this year (the 2.version of "in search of..." not to forgett!)
they must produce in lightspeed this guys. there is nearly every week a new catchy song on mtv pharrell and chad produced... thank god...
and good question: what is timbaland into now???

I said on this board for nearly a year + about them, too GOOD, makes you wanna quit..
they used to be Terry Riley's pupils..the N*E*R*D LP is available in two versions!!
the analog electric style one and just recently the Acoustic version... I prefer the Analog it is less rocky, but they both sound fairly similar.. "(obviously)

i'll second that. he's dope. i just saw him live a few weeks ago and his set really rocked. speaking of which show, t. raumshmere (i know i fucked up the spelling) did a live bit too and he about made my eardrums bleed. it was about 45 minutes of pure distorted noise and bass. the kinda shit that keeps sounding good only if you keep moving around in the room.

ok I am going to be the lone sore thumb. I need to live up to my rep. given to me by my friends: that I hate everything.
I don't like the neptunes. at all. all though I am not saying that they aren't talented technically. I just don't understand what all the fuss is about their tracks. yeah they are catchy, but to me that doesn't mean they are good. when I heard 'I'm a slave' it sounded like a rip off of some older clubby dance stuff I have on some old mixtapes by scott henry. nothing all that new and exciting. I guess I am just into a different sound.
what nelly track did they do? if it was that one for the "it's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes" than I have given up what respect I had for them.
you guys obviously know more about them I do though, so if you can give me any track names and artists so I can download them and formulate a more proper opinion that would be swell.

i think the neptunes should start to work on some new sounds...
don't get me wrong, i love their album and they sure have all the tech skills and musicality, but it's just starting to get a little boring.
i must admit though that the new justin t. track is a small step into another direction.
at least it's some form of change in pop/chart music!

Raphael Saddiq has a wonderful voice - Fave songs by him have to be "Get Involved" and "Dance Tonight" (Under Lucy Pearl)
Yet to buy the album - really should.
The Neptunes - we've been here before, but....
The Britney track was pretty decent; Justin takes some getting used to - I only really like the end of the song; Nelly's stuff with 'em seems to work out; I admit, Im not that keen on the Janet/Beenie thing, but I wouldnt go as so far as to say Beenie cant sing - his earlier stuff is great.
Interesting remix out-there - Beverly Knight recently did a cover of Chaka Khan's "I feel for you" over the instrumental of "Slave 4 U" -
It sounds brilliant.
P.S - As the main man Mux pointed out about the N.E.R.D single - it is of interest to see that it didnt fair that well at all..... but Lapdance will always be a v.good N.E.R.D track.
London love,

i would agree with ben. they havn't really developed their style very much in the late have they? it still goes right in your ear but i get a bit bored after hearing these songs a few times. a bit more depth would be good (although i don't know if pop and depth fit together so much).
and another thing: i always feel it sounds a bit crashed together, like making music via postal service. don't know how much they really work with the artists they produce for.
still miles better than most of the rest though.
btw does anyone know who produced the 'Beyonce'-track, the one for the new austin powers soundtrack? that thing is amazing!
(if it was the neptunes i stand pretty ridiculous now i guess..)
MUX
2nd October 2002, 15:06
nah, the guy who produced it is Damon Elliott who used to givin beats to Bone-thugs-&-harmony & Pink...
the songs groove is actually a old disco hit called "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" by K.C. and the Sunshine Band's
but.. gossip fans, beyonce is dating pharell
Lady E
2nd October 2002, 15:43
i have to say i thought that beyonce track for the austin powers movie was fucking GREAT.
and pharell is gorgeous, but a very dirty boy
Ben

Sheridan

allright I did a search on limewire and I downloaded some neptunes tracks.
I don't get it still. honestly, why do you guys find their stuff so interesting??
I am not trying to start shit, but I find their stuff to be very repetitive and recylced.
what makes their beats so good?? site your sources!!
and cristian, have you, or are you planning on ever making some hip hop beats??
I'd love to see your answer to some of landstrumm's breaks...

anyone know whats the haps with Cutlas (Landstrumm's hip hop joints)? i heard a new Cari Lekebusch hip hop track the other night. compressed, thick Cari-style beats with Aaron Phiri rapping over it. kinda cool.

The neptunes have a really great remix on the Air remix album that came out a few months back - worth it just for that one mix,
