i have just received pc components from my brother and i'm attempting to re-build my studio - i just need a decent soundcard for music production.
i have about £300 to spend - does anybody have any suggestions ?(i'm not the most tech savvy, so i can't really specify my exact requirements - i'd appreciate people's general opinion on soundcards in this price range)
thanks

Depending on how many ins and outs you need, you'll find good value for money cards in the Midiman Delta series (http://www.midiman.net/products/m-audio/delta.php)
I have a M-Delta 44 and I'm very satisfied: very good audio quality, low latency (>10 ms) in W2k.

4in/4out should be sufficient for now - thanks for the suggestion, i'll investigate further.

I'm using the m-audio audiophile - the sound qualities excellent for the price but only has 2 audio in + a digital one.

Well I bought a Siena 2 Years ago and i'm still happy and I think it's nice to have the midi with it now it's called MARC 8 MIDI from "MARIAN soundcards" (formerly SEK'D / Siena) but the price is about 500$ but they have a model called MARC 4 for 370$. Well I only had good experiences with it except lately I had to get a new motherboard (Gigabyte/Duron 1200Mhz/Win98) and the siena wouldn't work with the original siena drivers but then I installed the MARC 8 Drivers and everything was fine again also the sound has become even better just with the new drivers and till now everything seem to work very fine well I like the Midiman stuff aswell "good quality for a good price" I'd say it realy depends on your needs, that should be considered first coz they're all very different. Hope this is a little informative to ya. ciao.
