Hallo!

I'm a dj/producer from Moscow, Russia. Need some help!

Do you know any recordstores (vinyl) in Munich? Can you post here contacts/adresses(or by email)?

Thank you, guys!

Hi, I found this on the net:
http://www.techno.de/cgi-bin/tool/recordstore?search=m%FCnchen

that list is not up to date, afaik Parasound has closed (sadly), basically you should be able to get everything you need from optimal, while delirium remains a strong second.

was that store parasound linked to the record label parasound in anyway?
i.e. is the label dead too.

2 Tomoki: yes, I found this link too. :)

And one more question (if you knows): there is no info on delerium.de about Munich shop! Is this true?

@phone

yeh, I'm pretty certain it's true, it's been some 6 months since I last was there, but the only store that folded in recent times is parasound

@sheridan

yes, it was run by the parasound crew, and the label is still going strong, in fact they also organise clubnights in munich on an irregular basis - it's just that the competition was too stiff with an established store like optimal around... a shame really, coz they always had a real nice and tight selection...

2 wheezer: first - sorry, i'm phono, not phone :)

Do know any other shops except mentioned on techno.de?
I mean these:
Delirium, Optimal, Recordstore, United Gabberheads.

And which of them is better (like brighton sound)?

Many thanks!

last time I was there I managed to pick up some nice out of print stuff, their sorting is not the best, but it pays to dig in the crates.

OK, fine!!

May be Disko B or Kurbel have recordstores? Or they sell only their own stuff....

wheezer

optimal is hq for disko b, kurbel, gigolo etc.

oh yeah, one more tip: stay away from the mean-looking greek guy at optimal, a bit older in his 50ies - he owns the place and has a serious anger management problem...

hehe he's such an asshole, every time I've been in that store since 97 he's pissed me off in some form or another, I remember in 97 he shouted at me that I listened through the records "too fast", whatever the hell that's supposed to mean hehe

Sheridan
26th September 2002, 22:52
so are you one of those guys?. I am. I can whip through records faster than anyone else I have ever seen. I don't like wasting time since I pretty much know what sound I want when I go there. but I have never been yelled at before for doing it. that is funny as shit.

@sheridan

yeh, since I often don't have much time when I'm visiting somewhere, I often go through stuff pretty fast - that is the first and only time I got a comment like that though, coz I always treat vinyls with respect if they are not my own :)

Sheridan

I definitely treat the vinyl with care, but I go through them real fast. but for me I usually spend about 4 hours in the store (if it is good). so I try to listen to almost every techno record they have. you can never be too carefull. I have found some real gems (as I am sure we all have) going crate digging.

hehe, that sounds familiar, when I'm at hardwax in berlin on some berlin trip, I have been known to put in two vacation days for that purpose, after all, it's not every day I come there :D

Its funny how addicted to Vinyl we all are, I took a trip to New york a few months back, And All I did was hit up all the record stores there, rain or shine I was treking from one to the next. Its funny cause when you're a (V) junkie, the old stomping grounds at home get real old, I mean it gets to a point where you start buying stuff that you don't even like that much. All you dream about is the store that has that record that has eluded you for years. BTW In New York, Sonic Groove was the best store I came across for techno, I was hoping that they have all the stuff they list on their site in the store but they did'nt. I did find some cool stuff there though, The first planatery Assault systems, the Crispy Bacon single from Garnier, A Dave CLark greatest hits, Richie Hawtin & Aquaviva's classic Whiplash track and some other shit.......Man I would love to do some digging in Europe........

Sheridan

yeah sonic groove is awesome. their site is only a databass of what has been released. if it has been released and sg ever had a copy (99% of the time they have) then it is in the databass. but if you check their site now, whatever records have a price listed they have it in the store. so it is a lot better to know what to look for when you go there. but they do have a lot of older records come through there now.

Shopping for records in Munich is pretty much a one-stop affair:

Go to OPTIMAL, Kolosseumstrasse, in the Glockenbach part of town. Near underground Fraunhoferstrasse. They've got EVERYTHING.

Enjoy

when I came to munich they told me too I had to go to OPTIMAL (I prefered to go to parasound!)
now parasound is closed :( and I went the first time to optimal...the guys there ...they couldn´t answer for my questions all the stuff I searched was not sorted by the labels but in one category: UK TECHNO (scandinavia,chan´n´mikes,me rcurochrome,mutter...)...
someone told me that only one guy knows the techno records (lester jones),but I don´t like this recordstore...

Hi again!

I asked my friend to buy for me some records in Munich... So here is the result:
Delirium have nothing from ordered list. Recordstore sells only f@#$ed trance and jungle shit. United Gabberheads was closed (at saturday)...
So only 5 from 16 records were available in Optimal (i'm angry!).
It's Subhead from Tresor, 2 from Feis, Noodles...
No Drought (very great!), Mercurochrome, Null, Chan'n'Mikes,... shit! :(((

Are there something wrong?!!

How are you usually buy your stuff?

paranoiddancer
8th October 2002, 14:23
I prefer my recordstore in giessen (downtown-they knew my musicstyle and gave me everytime some records to listen to when I came to their shop) where I lived 1 year ago...
I buy most records from the internet (the labels have their own pages-downtown and humpty have good pages) or in humpty stuttgart
ok... end of commercial gap !

wheezer

@phono

optimal is really a cratedigger kind of place, I remember having bought chan-n-mikes 3 from there, but I doubt anybody at the store could've told me that they had it...

plus there's that angry greek guy...
