I definitely felt a vibration then also! I'm in London though, so im surprised I could feel it from here, but a strange wobblin sensation none the less. 4.8 on the Richter so they say.

I felt it. Wondered what the hell was going on. Thought it might have been an earthquake, then thought "nah, we don't get earthquakes in the UK"

I didn't feel a thing, probably due to the vast amounts of diazepam and cider I consumed before going to bed early.

...Felt it in East London too, tucked-up in bed watching Casino, and the floor kinda wobbled... I take it that it wasnt a special effect coming form the car bomb in the movie then...

Manchester has experienced several earth tremors in the last two days.
The strongest measured 3.9 on the Richter scale at 11:42 GMT/12:42 BST yesterday (October 21). People reported their houses "shaking" and "PC monitors moved".
The first quake of magnitude 3.2 occured just under two hours previously, causing "windows and doors to rattle". Numerous smaller aftershocks have been recorded by the British Geographical Survey since.
The BGS states on its website "The recent events in the Manchester area [...] are unusual in the UK in that they appear to be a sequence of earthquakes of moderate magnitude without a distinctive mainshock event[...]. This type of activity is called an 'earthquake swarm'."
This is the second set of shocks and tremors to hit the UK in a month. A quake of magnitude 5.0 shook the country in the early hours of September 23, with its epicentre on Dudley, West Midlands (see this topic).
The current 'tremorcount' for Manchester since yesterday, stands at 16.

If you know Manchester, you might be interested to see the exact locations of the epicentres of the first four of Monday's quakes:

Erm, I was in Manchester on business during the whole succession of them and didn't feel a thing. Maybe my equilibrium is just that knackered that I don't notice :)

well, I have to apologize to everyone...it was that extra spicy taco dinner I had the night before. Hit me extra hard on the ol' digestive tract and I was "moving the earth". :-)
