hiya folks!
been a while since last post during world cup. morrisey performed on craig kilborn late night tv recently from L.A. he looks different now. his face is bulbous and he's gained weight and dresses like or tries to anyway, like brian ferry. his voice is still impeccable though but his delivery just isn't the same. i dunno, maybe i'm being too critical cuz the studio audience ate up his new song about "a gang" or something. he came back the following night and performed "everyday is like sunday". apparently he lives in LA and watches tv all day. anyways, gotta hand it to the guy who wrote "hang the dj" in a song and repeats a billion times :)
n.b. congrats to cristian for your achievements this year. keep it up vato loco.

I think the late great bill hicks broke it down the best.
elvis didn't die on the toilet, he was giving birth to his and liberace's love child.
the name: morrisey.

aahh bless. did bill hicks really say that?
morrissey will always be a unique performer though. he is a genuine outsider and will always remain so. i love the fact that his biggest current fan base is mexicanos in california...

he used to be the lead singer for the smiths. I like their stuff, I am not as partial to morrisey's solo stuff. is he still on the celibacy tip, or is he finally making sweet love?

The Smiths were a highly influential and iconic early 80s band from Manchester signed to Rough Trade. Writing partnership Stephen Patrick Morrissey (always known by his last name) and Johnny Marr produced some really amazing work over several albums, best one is Hatfull of Hollow i reckon but there are some serious contenders.
the band split acrimoniously in 1987 and Morrissey never quite regained the magic that he and Marr shared and his solo career has been going downhill ever since. the first few Morrissey singles, even the first album were acceptable but its all been pretty shit since then.
he is still celibate according a recent interview in the Guardian.

oiye! oiye!
- i think that if morrisey were a woman, then his lyrics would still be the same.
- i think that coldplay want to be the smiths but buddyboy can't sing or hold a note to save his life. he starts off singing like ian mcullough of echo and the bunnymen than tries in vain to go from low to high to low again. drives me bonkers. if ya know wot i mean.
- there will never be another john lennon, jimmy hendrix or freddie mercury, etc, and that's the great thing about what is not forever.
ie. look at robert plant...aye carumba, please for the love of god- no more!
- things come'n go and that is the nature of us to be finite and fallible.
- coldplay has now manifested the late eighties manchester scene and managed to regurgitate it in full glory albeit biting Johnny Marr's guitar stylee and sounds reminiscent of 14 years past. -full cycle baby...too bad luke slater couldn't pull it off.
adios amigos and mamacitas!
...for da dude who doesn't av a clue:
Panic
Panic on the streets of London
Panic on the streets of Birmingham
I wonder to myself
Could life ever be sane again ?
The Leeds side-streets that you slip down
I wonder to myself
Hopes may rise on the Grasmere
But Honey Pie, you're not safe here
So you run down
To the safety of the town
But there's Panic on the streets of Carlisle
Dublin, Dundee, Humberside
I wonder to myself
Burn down the disco
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music that they constantly play
IT SAYS NOTHING TO ME ABOUT MY LIFE
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music they constantly play
On the Leeds side-streets that you slip down
Provincial towns you jog 'round
Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ
HANG THE DJ, HANG THE DJ, HANG THE DJ
HANG THE DJ, HANG THE DJ
HANG THE DJ, HANG THE DJ
Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ
HANG THE DJ, HANG THE DJ
HANG THE DJ, HANG THE DJ
Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ
HANG THE DJ, HANG THE DJ
HANG THE DJ, HANG THE DJ
Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ
HANG THE DJ
