Found a Roland TR-626 for sale the other day for £35, worth grabbing or not?

In my opinion, no...
The sounds aren't all too great really, they sound like the typical drum kit off a PCM keyboard. :P
Might be worthwhile as a MIDI controller though...

Yeqh - the one not to buy is the 505 this is the worst .... you can hear the 626 and 707 on my first LP Beginning to Understand ... I remember it sonded pretty good out of the box

What´s wrong with the 505???? I know I have it somewhere in the apartment... hidden deep deep down behind all the other crap....
It has some very natural (hrmhrm..plastic) sounds... baaaddrr!!
But it´s great fun to use them anyway - ´total Like´a´Tim-style!!
lol

not really, i guess for the amount you gonna use it, samples should definitly do the work.

yeah, you're better off going to machines.hyperreal.org and just downloading a sample-set. the sounds on the 626 aren't very editable: only tune and volume. the sounds are digital samples anyway, so why not just throw them in your sampler for more versatility? it's not a bad box, it just isn't all that good.

Yeah, I was just thinking of buying it for the sake of it.. I have a desire to build a collection of drum machines coz they're cool.
