Okay, so I'm not normally a 'sample spotter', but could someone in the know please tell me what film that Cheerleaders sample comes from on the new semi-automatic (003??) release (which is truly excellent, btw) 'coz its doin' my head in.

it is from the opening sequence of 'bring it on' staring the sassy kirsten dunst as a cheerleader trying to do the right thing. oh and the film is complete crap by the way! unless your obsessed by the fact that america keep churning out these teen films with dubious morals about social stature and life.

actually I was talking complete shit. I do own 10 things. it is a promo copy that a friend of mine got at the video store she worked at. so she gave it to me. the one thing that sucks about writing on message boards is that it is real hard to convey sarcasm.

oh yes, I forgot about fast times. that is a super funny movie.

top gun was really well done, better than IE indeed, it totally fascinated me when it came out - but when i watched it again recently i really asked myself how i could stand tom cruise's permanent and aggressive grin and how this incompetent guy called "maverick" could be the prototype of an 80s hero ?? but at least the soundtrack still rocks, yes ! kenny loggins' "danger zone", teena marie - "lead me on" (which brings us back to the topic) and of course berlin's no.1 smash hit along with the monumental theme by harold faltermeyer - i recently heard it on the radio as a eurotrash ravetrance version - what a sacrilege !!

there also was a track on the soundtrack like "take me on the mighty wings tonight" - hmm i have to go and look for the tape now.

that "freedom" track came out years before, but the way it's produced makes it sound just like the usual german "schlager" (~german folkmusic/country), which is prolly why germans went so crazy for it...

as far as i'm informed 'looking for freedom' was already a cover version, track chosen by hasselhoff's producers for the album "KNIGHT ROCKER", hehe... i think those producers also did 'Engelbert'.

yeah we were "crazy for him", especially when he was floating over brandenburg gate during annection celebration in a crane 'cabin', wearing a leather jacket with hundreds of lamps which were flashing in waves... 8-()
