the original concept:
It's a very simple idea. One player creates a layer in a photoshop document and emails it to the other. Each player progressively adds a layer until the match is over, either by reaching ten volleys, a player's withdrawal or mutual consent. A guest adds comments and the whole thing happens and is diplayed in real time. Finally, the people watching vote for a winner.

what about files? i think we can only use .jpg and .gif can't we (also for size reasons) but there ain't no layers, they get to be aligned in these formats. so just building a new one on top of the material you get or what?

this layer-thing is not a bad idea but .psd's get pretty big and we can't attach them to this site here - .jpg and .gif only. that means no layers i guess.

what about that: every couple of people gets a sourcefile and works that out in the given time (24h?), mb-crew decides which is better using the vote-system included here. one round only or it takes too long. we will need some raw material first when the matches are sorted out. havn't really found a clever way to deal with the files though - some webspace to post our stuff would be easiest way i guess.

anyway, i'm still not certain of the rules - do we pass back and forth to our opponent, and create between the two players, or do we pass to always to the next in line, so we all have a part in creation?

ok here is my observation. first I am assuming that mux is no longer going to be playing. so if that is true then haynusbrody should play lefthandlou.
with that done we have 8 matches. perfect for single elimination. we will start with round one, then the quarters, then have the semi's. after that the winner from group a will play the winner from group b for the final. ok I propose we get a background image that everyone will use for the first round of play. so all matches start with the same image. then one person will add what they want. post it so everyone can see then give the image to their opponent. that person will make any additions and post that. we should decide on how many rounds of play there should be. lets just say for now we have 3 or 5. so each person will have 3 or 5 chances to add to the image making 6 to 10 additions total for a single match. here is the tricky part. we need a way to decide who is the winner. so I propose we have a judge(s). they will post who's additions they liked more per round. the one with the most positive feeback for their additions is the winner.
so here is an example using my match with gunjack:

round 1: winner: gunjack
round 2: winner: sheridan
round 3: winner: sheridan
round 4: winner: gunjack
round 5: winner: gunjack

so by the breakdown gunjack beats me 3 rounds to 2 thus moving on.
for this to work we will need either 1 or 3 judges. so for arguments sake I will say
emma, and two other people who aren't playing be the judges. but they need to be someone who can check the board everday to see the additions and post their decisions.
for the second round a new background image will be chosen and the cycle continues until we have a winner. here is a breakdown of who will play who and who the winner needs to look at for the next match. the white lines tie the two matches together so the winner of those matches face each other in the next round. if anyone has any other suggestions than lets have them. this is just off the top of my head. oh yeah we should certainly wait for deccard to get back and gunjack to get his copy of photoshop before we start.

ok I have updated the tournament matches. t[i]ara will take jukka's place. all the other matches are the same. why don't we start submitting background images for the start and we can vote as too which one we will use for round one. the other thing that I have a question on is this. the board will only let you post images that are 320 x 240 pixles. yet other people have posted images larger than that. pille'ocheri told me that is has to do with posting an image from a website. so does anyone have extra web space where we can keep the images or are we relegated to keeping the images 320 x 240??
