You know when you've been working too long.. when you pick up the *real* pair of scissors sitting next to your mouse, instead of selecting the scissors icon in Logic ;)
Ah the wonders of sleep deprivation, everything has a green tinge and the walls aren't at right angles anymore.

ah yes, it's quite funny when the boundries between real and virtual become blurred due to sleep deprivation.

The funny thing is I just sat there looking at the scissors and then at the screen for about 10 secs.. trying to remember what on earth I wanted to do.
I've not had it like this since I was playing far too much Quake, I remember side stepping into the kitchen are circling my mother with a strafing movement.

It's not all bad, in the past 8 days I've learnt more keyboard shortcuts for Logic than I've learnt for everything else in my life to date.

When I worked for a digital photography company I used to find myself constantly mentally using Photoshop's clone brush to remove spots from peoples face's and dirt from walls :)
Working 12 hr shifts at 400% zoom on super high-res photo's of peoples faces is not good for your mental health.

I never used to learn them on my PC, but on the mac they are a lot more efficient.

sleep depravation is a strange thing. I remember one time I was up for work at 5 am and worked all day in DC. then me and some friends went up to baltimore for a party and stayed till the end and then drove all the way back to my friends house in the boondocks of virginia. we got there at like 7:30am, so I had been up for over 24 hours with no aid from drugs. we were all sitting on the couch and my friends mom was there talking to us. I was telling her about the party we were at and in mid sentence I fell asleep. :-p
I felt pretty embarrassed when I was told that later in the day.

I know what I mean. Efficient as in you can't get to them features via a right click, you have to trawl through menus. Efficient is the wrong word, granted.

yeah, i used to be pretty into experiementing with sleep deprivation. and staying up for days without drugs. it's pretty amazing - a lot of the "out-of-it" feeling that you get from drugs is actually do to lack of sleep then the chemicals (at least i think so). i wonder if there are long-term bad effects to not sleeping.

Just death I think.
Theres a good J.G.Ballard short story about sleep deprivation called 'Manhole 69'.
(that sounds like a film Phil worked on, but it's not)
