Hey guys..

I'll be in San Francisco between Jan 7th and 10th for my girlfriends birthday. She has never been exposed to any real hard-minimal electronic music (like: Rob Hood, Jeff Mills, Neil Landstrumm, Cristian Vogel, Dave Clark, Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer, The Surgeon, Regis, Female, Joel Mull, SubHead, Chris Leibing, Jamie Lidell, Thomas Krome, Thomas Brinkman, DJ Lenk) off large sound
systems, surrounded by other neo-tribalists like ourselves.

Does San Fran have any underground venues, clubs, or zone of temporary autonomy anybody could suggest?

I've been hunting for awhile now and haven't found anything I could definitely peg as underground, hard and/ or experimental... Just the standard run of house clubs and trance nights..

Any help would be very appreciated.

btw - yes, the irony of posting this kind of query on a forum primarily populated by europeans isn't lost upon me.. :)

Talking to people on those sites may well help turn you on to something going on during your visit. I'm not aware of any special events going on that week, and I don't know of any particularly good clubs that have regular minimal nights. Most of the good stuff going on in the Bay Area tends to be one-offs, warehouse parties, and the odd crazy house party. The underground has really kinda gone back underground. Even most of the good record shops are gone. There are still a few of us keeping it alive, but it seems for the moment we are a dying breed. Anyhow, enjoy your stay.

So where you been Anarchosyn? It's been like 6 months since you posted, you been doing that 'real life' thing?

Hey Steev,

Nah.. I've been avoiding anything even remotely "real" just as strong as ever. I've simply been mired in deeper shades of imaginary nonsense than usual (work, lovers, friends.. oh wait, is this what you meant by "real" ;) ).

Can't quite say I'm back, but I still look upon this forum with fond memoriers.
