How I wish all pop music could sound like S_C. You know the last time I was hoping somebody was really able to invade the mainstream with something really new and unique was when hearing the first efforts of Tricky, and it seemed he really could have massive success with what he did. I kind of hope it for you too.

How great would Jamie and Cristian be on Top Of The Pops? All those nu-metal kids and Westlife-loving girls trying to work out exactly what was going on. I'd love it.
As for Tricky, the only really good stuff he's done is when Massive Attack, all his solo stuff has been so dramatically variable, and his last album was a little too.. produced for my liking.
Speaking of which, Massive Attack have an album out soon, looking forward to that.
Anyway, we need more S_C gigs in the UK, I want to see the 10-foot tall Busta Rhymes/Prince love-child too.

I dunno - the Tricky comparison is interesting... Maxinquaye was a genuinely radical album which sold well, and I think it has certain similarities with Raw Digits in its tensions between space and pressure, sensuality and technology and such like.
Good interview/profile, by the way.

@ emma,
it came out in 95 or 96. I remeber the name and record looked a bit cheesy, but then if you check out the track listing you knew it wasn't some crappy comp.

Russ Gabriel is a Frankfurt citizen for 6 months now! He runs a night once a month here, but I haven’t heard him until now. Is he a good Dj? Some experiences with him?
